Pretty Average Golf Course Experience! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 19, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Rocky Ridge Ball and Disc Golf Course offers regular golf and footy golf in addition to disc golf. The price was a bargain at $5 for 18 holes. I forgot to ask what additional rounds would cost. Cart rental was $15. I don't think this course is prospering. It looked slightly rundown in places.

The baskets are a somewhat small version. I'm not sure of the model. They were okay, I guess. There are no tee signs. This course would have been difficult to follow without the Udisc App. I think the problem is the tees are marked with a variety of different colored markers. Even with the App, I circled the wagons a few times trying to locate them. The distances are somewhat shorter than most golf courses with only two holes over 500 feet.

The holes were pretty pedestrian with a couple of exceptions. # 13 is 270' but it's about 250' to carry over the pond. And # 14 has a pond on it's left side. No other holes stood out to me.

Cons:

Would be difficult to navigate without the Udisc App.

The hole 9 basket and the 10th tee pad are in the maintenance section of the course with all kinds of debris. This area is somewhat lacking in attractiveness.

Lack of interesting/exciting holes.

# 8 basket is a Mickey Mouse version of a raised basket. It's one of the green minis set on a wooden spool.

Other Thoughts:

The course doesn't seem to be just a money grab as many others disc courses on golf course seem to be. Not with the lowly $5 price they're charging. But neither do they appear to have put a great deal of effort into this endeavor, no signage, cheaper baskets, not clearly marked pads, risky dink quickie fix raised basket, etc. On the plus side of the ledger, I zipped through the 18 holes here in 1:20, thanks in part to my wonderful, racing rental cart.

Plus some bureaucratic lawn mower guy yelled at me for driving my cart on "his tee pads." I did but didn't recognize it as a tee pad. This place ain't exactly Pebble Beach. But then again, I probably don't much resemble Jordan Spieth, except for maybe the eyes a little bit. And the ice in my veins when putting.
