Pros: A nice little parking area was added just for disc golf, and the course starts and ends very close to it.
Tees are decent size, and the DisCatcher baskets are always a plus.
The signage is excellent. It gives a decent map of the hole and points you to the next tee once you've finished.
Elevation is a big plus here. The first three holes are all downhill, with 1 being the most extreme. Hole 4 goes uphill, 6 is an excellent downhill where you can go with a low forehand or a big backhand hyzer, then hole 9 plays across the very edge of the "valley" with the drop off to the right.
Hole 7 is a really nice right-to-left hyzer shot. A little long for my fledgling backhand, but most rhbh players have a great shot at it.
Hole 8 is a really nice par 4. There's eagle opportunity, but it would take a perfect shot. For a church course, it's definitely a par 4.
Cons: Like mentioned before, there is some mud around the tees since the course is new. It will go away with some time or mulch, but it isn't a major issue.
A few more trees wouldn't hurt.
A long throw on 3 could go toward the teepad of 4.
Other Thoughts: This is a great little course put into the area between the church and the highway. A few longer holes would bump my rating up a little bit but they did very well with the land they had and still kept the course accessible to new players. Definitely worth a visit if you're coming through North KC and want to add 9 more holes to your stop.

Pleasant as Pie N' Punch

Pros: This 9 hole layout is set to the side of the church parking lot and has some nice hill top views on either end, with a woodsy valley between them. Concrete tee boxes and fresh baskets are nice. Layout is not very long, but has a par 4 and a couple of 340'+ par 3 holes.
The elevation and trees are used well to shape shots along either side of the creek bottom.
Hole 1 is is a fun initial tee shot. A putter is all you need to reach the bottom of a good sized slope. Very much a birdie opportunity, unless you overshoot the pin and wind up in the trees. 2 is kind of a short line drive under tree canopy, short and reachable with a mid range or putter. 3 is mid distance and slightly uphill with a pin protected by a mature tree. 4 is another short hole that plays back downhill, with the pin at the end of a left to right turning fairway. 5 is pretty much level and open, but the fairway does slope downhill from left to right if you miss the line.
6 is the turn at the opposite side of the valley, and is very similar to the first hole. Downhill with a lot of air space, a bit longer than 1, and instead of trees, there is a creek behind the pin at the bottom of the hill that needs to be avoided. 7 is a right to left turner that you really have to bend. To get the proper distance the drive must remain close to the trees on the inside of the turn, then maybe hope for a nice skip to run toward the basket. Hole 8 is the par 4, and has the creek to the right side and a line of woods to the left. A couple of stray trees dot the fairway as well as you approach the pin. It takes a couple of good shots to get a birdie chance. The final hole tees at the top of the hill, and plays along the edge of the slope rolling down to the right. It is a longish drive that is open, with a bad roll being the worst scenario. Depending on the angle of the approach, taking a run can be dicey.
Cons: Newish tees are surrounded by dirt that was muddy and really stuck to my shoes when I visited.
Other Thoughts: This course is pretty fun and plays fast if it isn't super busy. Not super easy or championship caliber, but fun for intermediate and recreational players. Good layout on terrain that can be hilly and wooded.
I shot 1 under par, with 3 birdies and 2 bogies. I did miss a putt or three that would have helped me go lower. I will try to go back and get pics to upload once the temps go above freezing. Plays well with the nine hole at William Jewell if you're in the area.

Solid Niner

Pros: Pleasant Valley features a really nice nine hole course. Navigation is pretty straight forward, with cement tee pads on every hole, and signs that show the hole distance. Baskets are new and in good condition and have the hole numbers on the band.
Even with only nine holes, there is some pretty good variety. There are three tunnel shots, uphill and downhill holes, and hills that slope left or right. Hole 8 is a fun par 4, and hole 3 plays downhill, through one gap in the trees, with a slight right finish and low ceiling all the way.
Every hole has at least something interesting about it, which is more than can be said of plenty of courses. It's either hills, trees, or both. Holes 1, 8, and 9 play on or near a pretty steep slope that can cause rollaways.
Cons: There are good holes, and there are bad holes. 1, 6 and 9 are a little too open, and 7 has a really odd shape. It keeps turning to the left with no hope for LHBH/RHFH, players, and even for people with left-turning shots, it's still a little much.
Mud is an issue, but once the course has been in a little longer and has time to recover from installation, it probably should be fine. Also, some snow was melting when I was there.
The creek that runs through the course isn't used well. It isn't an important part of the course challenge-wise, but it will be a nightmare to get discs out of. That may have been the intention, but especially for beginner players, a disc could easily go in on an errant shot.
There isn't a whole lot of variety in hole distance. Other than the one par 4 and two short holes, most everything is around 300 feet. Speaking of which, those two short holes (2 and 4) aren't all that great.
Other Thoughts: This course is certainly worth a play. While it lacks qualities that would make an amazing course, it plays pretty quick because of the layout and the fact that it's only nine holes.
The tee signs are double-sided. It helps you more quickly identify the hole, but it is sometimes unclear which direction the hole goes. Fortunately, it's usually pretty easy.
