Rustic Hilly Cool Winery Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 3, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is the best winery course that I have played so far. The winery has a pleasant staff and a wide variety of adult beverages that can be enjoyed on sight. We were told that there was a $3.00 fee to play the course but that it would be waived if we bought something. I wholeheartedly support what they are doing here so we left with a couple of bottles of wine.

The first thing that you will notice is the abundance of hills in this part of Florida. Florida has hills, you just have to know where to look. The uphill run on hole 10 and uphill walk back to the winery, combined with the spectacular scenery will have you asking yourself if this is perhaps Tennessee or Northern Georgia. The course has a good variety of hole lengths and types as it weaves in and out of the woods and up and down the hills. The tees are pavers, but they are concreted in so they aren't moving. The tee signs that haven't faded away are very unique and nice. There are several next tee arrows scattered about to aid with navigation. The course is isolated, super fun, and surrounded by beautiful hills and woods.

Cons:

The course is very rustic and not quite cart-friendly. I got the feeling that it's not quite done yet and more holes could be added and more work done. The open holes tee signs have faded out and need to be replaced. The staff was aware of it and seemed interested in replacing them.

The course is not for the faint of heart. It traverses unmowed fields in and out of dense jungle woods and has some mild to sharp elevation changes. Sturdy shoes and long pants.

There is a variety of basket types here including what looks like some homemade ones with varying degrees of catchability.

Other Thoughts:

I LOVE these types of courses, but if you prefer a more refined experience you might not like it as much. It is remote and isolated though and a great place to get away from the grind for a while. This is one I'll probably play again and there is room for a higher or lower rating perhaps in the future as we see where this one goes.
