Pros:

Heavily wooded advanced course on church property. This course is 5 minutes from where I work so not my home course but I have played all 3 niners a lot.

1. Tee pads/Signs - Turf on a base, a couple aren't 100% flat but shouldn't affect your tee shot. Signs include a map, distance, and are overall very nice.

2. Difficulty - Not so hard that you start to hate wood courses, but hard enough to have a really bad day. A couple holes can really get away from you with a bad shot or two. Me, being a MA1 player, usually shoot -3 or -4 on a good day, E or +1 on a bad day.

3. Baskets - Nice orange Prodigy baskets, double chains. Catch well

4. Land - No amenities near the 9 holes although once or twice of the +20 rounds I've played here there was someone walking the paths or mountain bikers riding.

5. Gameplay - Multiple par 4s where placement is essential. Par 3s are no walk in the park. Mandos, heavy rough and OB on several holes.

6. Beauty - Nice and secluded, Georgia woods, very shaded. Great to play in winter and in summer.

Hole 1: Straight about 150 ft and then a dogleg right. I rarely birdie this one. Good hole. Basket is on a steep slope.

Hole 2: Poke and pray putter shot. Many lines but none are easy or open enough to be hit consistently. Can be done though. Lots of trees/branches

Hole 3: Short par 4 that requires a short placement shot to get in position for birdie. One of my favorites on the advanced course. Lots of lanes on 2nd shot.

Hole 4: Really tough par 3. Tunnel shot and basket is slightly on the left. Very easy to hit a tree and kick way out of the fairway

Hole 5: Epic hill and valley shot. Tons of trees in the way but a well placed shot could be parked. Hole elevation looks like the letter U. Kicking off the fairway here is almost guaranteed bogey.

Hole 6: Horseshoe shaped par 4, requires a placement shot off the tee and has 2 mandos. Elevated basket

Hole 7: Par 4 that has a mando on the left. Need a straight to slightly right turning shot to get in position to approach the basket. Dogleg left past the mando to the basket that is up a hill. High rollaway chance on this green

Hole 8: Super uphill hole with multiple fairway trees to miss. Never birdied this one. Need at least 450 foot of power to be close to a putt.

Hole 9: Zig zag par 5. Dogleg right then straight, then dogleg left, finally curving to a steep slope the basket sits on. Very difficult. Anywhere off the fairway is basically jail. Not impossible but can be incredibly frustrating.

Cons:

1. Insects - Ticks are insane in the summer. Bring spray and check yourself after playing.

2. Benches - Only a couple benches. Very skinny and uncomfortable benches at that.

3. Hole 9 - This hole is very difficult, maybe too much for a par 5. I know par 6's are not a thing but this hole should be one. I have taken a couple 6's and tons of 7's. Someone just recently hit the first birdie after almost a year of the course being open and it was a +200 foot throw in. The hole itself is awesome and fun to play, don't get me wrong. The par doesn't help your score at all. Expect to lose a few strokes at the very end of the round.

4. Course not available Sunday mornings.

Other Thoughts:

The premier course in Houston County. Heavily wooded course on church grounds. 2 other 9 hole courses on site, beginner and intermediate levels, 27 holes total. Absolutely no alcohol or smoking.

Fun and challenging but nothing blows me away here. It probably has the best holes in Middle GA but only 9 of them isn't ideal. I wouldn't call this a destination but if coming to the area, this is a must play along with Claystone park at Lake Tobesofkee.
