Pros: Front nine is very open, lots of good open shots. This is a great place to practice your drives. The greens are the only wooded places for most of the course, so you're accuracy for mids and putts is critical. Holes 4-7 are up or down hills, so huge chance here to maximize distance. I really had a great time here, lots of trash cans, not crowded.
Cons: 4, 5, 6 and 7 are up and down hills. I'm not "in shape" so these wore me out really early. Made this course exhausting. Hole 14 has a huge puddle almost exactly at the critical turn for that hole, also about my average distance on a drive, so I landed right in the swamp. The back nine feels crowded after the huge open front nine. Lots of long walks between holes, don't go on a hot day, no shade. Some of these baskets, the top of the basket actually curves in? I've never seen this before, and it totally boned me on some shots. I was really excited about the proshop between 11 and 12, but it's more a ball golf shop, they had like 12 discs that all seemed used, I was sad.
Other Thoughts: This course was fun, I probably got my max distance drive today (shot downhill on 7) but the only challenge here is really the distance. I had a good time, this is the first course that really allowed me to cut loose and blow my arm out for all out distance, without making me pay for it. It's a great course to play for practice, but not a great challenge.

Pros: -Makes good use of the elevation and water
-Lots of longer holes where you can pull out the big guns.
-Some more technical holes on the back 9.
-Sequence of holes has a nice flow, except the gap between 11&12.
-Course is mostly easy to follow, 11-12 gap is the only real trouble spot.
-Wind is a major test on the open holes

-New dual concrete tees on each hole. There are now 4 different layouts you can play: Longs, shorts, classic tees, and new tees.
-Some of the new tees offer significantly different looks at the hole, especially hole 4.
-New long tees on holes 4 and 15 are great; very fun and very challenging.
-New short tees are great for beginners and smaller arms
Cons: -Lack of shade, especially on the front 11
-The baskets are okay but some have single chains, leaning slightly, and/or just kind of janky.
-Much of the front 11 is unmemorable distance holes with little to no obstacles. Thank goodness for the pond and bunker.

-new long pad on hole 10 is facing the wrong way, super annoying
-still no new signs
-the baskets are really showing age
-old tee post on hole 16 is too close to the tee pad
-new pad on hole 16 is stupid and redundant
Other Thoughts: This is a good option if you live in Denton. You can get in a fun round in town without having to drive to Lewisville. That said, I live in Denton and I'm certainly willing to drive to Lewisville pretty frequently just to play a better course.

This is basically a long and mostly uneventful course. Most of the front 9 circles a small lake (or big pond?) which comes into play on 4(creek),6,9. Not much in terms of obstacles, just a few lines of trees here and there so just bring your distance. A large bunker circles half of the lake so a few holes get an elevated teepad (5,7,9) or basket (4,8). Most of these holes are straight fairways and don't favor RH or LH.

Once you get through 11, there is a long walk around some tennis courts and a ball golf driving range to get to the tee for 12. Can be a nice little break and there is a water fountain and beverage machine on the way, next to a little shop between the tennis course with drinks and snacks.
The back holes are a little more varied: more trees, obstacles and technical holes, shorter distances. Here a small creek comes into play on 15-18. Great contrast from the front side.

The other major factor here is that there is nearly always a good amount of wind coming through the course. Great practice for getting used to the wind but it can get old. Somehow there is almost always a headwind not matter which direction you are facing.

The course is a veritable swamp after a heavy rain. The front 9 is doable but you've got to skip much of the back unless you want to be at least ankle deep in mud and water.

 Decent Long Range Course

Pros: Good variety of shots. Long, open shots for the first group, then some closer, precision shots in the last group.
Lots of fun if you like really airing out a disc, plus the lake and the creek in the last area gives some challenging risk/reward shots.
Not usually very crowded, and eve when it is, the people are mostly friendly.
Cons: Few to no trees from hole #2 to about hole #13, gets really hot.
Long walks between most of the holes.
Only mowed on the fairways, the grass outside of that can get REALLY long.
VERY windy, even for Denton, but it doesn't affect you as much as it could, since they're mostly long, straight shots that are pretty forgiving.
Other Thoughts: This course really let me get my drives down.
It's a long ways from hole #11 to #12, but the trip takes you past a place to get drinks as well as a golf pro shop with some decent discs for sale.
Overall a pretty fun course.

Pros: Long shots. Easy to follow the layout. Doesn't usually get too crowded. Hardly any pedestrian interference.
Cons: Boring. Only challenge is to throw your disc far and straight. And occasionally avoid a lake or creek or mud pit. Many holes get swamped out after it rains. Not much shade. Scenery isn't too exciting. It is often extremely windy out here (by Denton standards). Many holes are out on an open plain that catches alot of constant wind.
Other Thoughts: Don't end up in the driving range.
The course gets more interesting in the last 6 holes.

Pros: This course has some nice length and wide open tee shots. There are also some elevated tee boxes/pins which make things interesting. the back 7 holes or so ride next to a creek and is lightly wooded so it's a little more technical here.
Cons: Little chances to catch a drink in the summer time which can be blisteringly hot due to the open style of the course.
Other Thoughts: After hole ten you got a bit of a walk around the tennis courts to the next hole.

Baskets were a mix of different types but mostly older, quality ones that caught alright. The tee signs were sufficient to get the point across and the posted distances were in the right ballpark on most holes. Generally a pretty easy course with some long holes that let you air out your discs. A weenie are will have a hard time competing on this course. Some decent elevation changes on several of the holes with a couple big downhill drives that can boost your ego. #17 is a great pie shaped "island" hole that affords a reasonable landing area, but then a challenging putt; if you try to park the tee shot you risk the narrowest part of the island. Four of the five water risk holes are at the end of the course allowing you to keep your plastic until the final holes. ;-) Restrooms and water fountains between holes #11 & #12.
The tee boxes were rutted dirt and could easily stand to be upgraded. You'll likely want to tee off from behind (or to the side) of many of them. The walk from #11 to #12 is really long. Not a very high challenge factor. The area around basket #14 could be filled because it's too low now and collects all the water in the area. Not much shade on the majority of the course.
Other Thoughts:
I played a charity tournament on this course and they had slightly modified tee boxes defined to keep us out of the mud pits that were the normal boxes, that made the round more enjoyable. The locals said it was typically a very windy course, but it wasn't that bad the April day that I played. North Lake Park is a decent course but not something a traveling pro would be happy about going out of their way to play. But for locals and novice and recreational players it's a perfectly enjoyable course.

Pros: Lots of wide open shots through the front nine if you want to work on your driving or try out new discs. Very close to UNT for any students wanting to play regularly.
Great course for beginners.
Cons: The middle ten holes, there are not any trees, which means no shade in the summer and lots of wind most of the time. Makes for some very boring holes.
Most of holes are just not challenging enough for a novice or experienced player.

Other Thoughts: If you are in Denton, you are better off taking the drive down to Lake Lewisville or LL woods in Lewisville.

Pros: Good course with lots of shots. You will need a big arm here to score well because there are many long holes. There is a good mix of shots though with some tight shots, some annys and some hyzers. Good mix of baskets and natural pads. Tee signs are ok but not great. Fun course to practice your wind game out.
Cons: Ruts on some tees suck. Needs trash cans. The walk between 11 and 12 is LONG. The pond will eat discs as will some of the creeks if they are up. Get very hot in the warmer months and its a long walk to your car once you start. Basket 14 is pretty much always under water(make your putt!)!!
Other Thoughts: I see they sell drinks and discs in the shop that breaks up the walk between 11 and 12. There will be some changes in the next couple of months from what the locals tell me, stand by for that.

Pros: This is a long course, so it is great for practicing your drive. The city has really improved the upkeep of the course. Great elevation holes for practice going up and down hills. The pond is nice to walk around, and you get your exercise for the day. The back nine are a good change from the open front nine. Parking is never a problem. Water hazards are not bad for losing discs (be careful on 9).
Cons: A few of the baskets have been damaged, and a few signs need to be redone. Some tees have become ruts (although the city is supposed to be pouring concrete). Some trees have been removed, which has altered some holes. Of course I must mention the walk between 11 and 12, but it isn't that big of a deal, it's healthy...
Other Thoughts: I am a little biased toward this course, it is the course i started on. Great fun, but plan for some wind. There is always wind at North Lakes Park, no matter what the weather is doing: we joke about it being the windiest place in town. Not a lot to worry about, just go out and enjoy.

There is currently a petition online for the improvement of this course. With your help and e-Signiture, this course can be greatly improved.
I put a link up in the "Links" tab. Thanks.

Pros: Beautiful scenery by a lake that doesn't interfere much with play.
Wide open holes for driver practice.
A community athletics center with vending machines, water fountains, and clean restrooms is located near the 11th hole.
There is also a golf pro-shop by the community center that sells used discs for discounted prices!
The course has a few tees positioned atop hills that are very fun to shoot from.
Usually has a good amount of groups playing that are friendly and courteous. But is rarely overpopulated.
alcohol is allowed.
Well maintained with short green grass. Hardly any mud except by the creeks.
Cons: needs more trashcans/benches.
Very long walk between the middle of the course due to the athletics facility and ball golf driving range.
The final holes are over creeks and a ditch with some pretty swampy water so be careful.
The first part of the course is so open that it is usually very windy. This wind makes advancing through the long holes treacherous at times.
Tees are dirt and desperately need to be replaced with concrete.
Other Thoughts: This course gets more flak than it deserves. I have a lot of fun every time I come out here. If you have 1 1/2 to 2 hours to spare, it is well worth the time. Just don't come on a windy day if you can help it.
