Bürgerpark -Not Quite A Big Mac! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 26, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Bürgerpark is a 9 hole course located in Rostock in northern Germany. Be aware that Bürgerpark in German roughly translates to city park so be careful and don't make the same mistake that we did-that is, go to the wrong bürgerpark in a city roughly 40 km. away. So "Rostocker Disc Golf Parcours" sits in nice clean city park. The baskets are double chained. There is a great course map at the beginning and the tee signs are metal signs attached on the top of, roughly 4 "x 4" concrete pillars. Then on the metal signs, a colored stick on hole descriptionand picture is stuck. These are very cool but wouldn't hold up to any major vandalism. However, only one was showing any signs of wear and that was from the weather. The pads were just grass or worn dirt.
The course starts near the cul-de-sac and plays 4 holes out, then 4 back to the cul-de-sac with # 9 on the other side of the cul-de-sac. It was very easy to navigate. The holes ranged from recreational easy to slightly harder and longer. The terrain is scattered trees with some underbrush in places, mostly flat except for # 9. Being able to control your roller is important here. I would call # 9 the signature hole here. It's a slightly downhill toss to a visible basket, probably 160 ft. with a little right turn needed.

Cons:

Nothing major. It's easy to navigate. Although the pads are natural, they seem to be very functional for this little 9 holer. There are many other park users so you have to be aware of them at all times.

Other Thoughts:

This is Germany's answer to all the little 9 hole courses scattered about America' city parks. It's a fun little throw through the park. If I lived close, I'd probably be a German. And I would come and play this little course all the time as the next closest course is about 25 miles away.
