Fun course and very well maintained ...

Pros: - Very well maintained, with clearly defined fairways.
- Baskets and signs in good shape.
- Nice mix of open shots and shots through tight wooded areas.
- Lots of elevation change.
Cons: - Tee pads are really short. And since they're elevated, folks with average to long run-ups will have trouble.
- No signs or arrows pointing to the next hole. Good luck finding No. 16 -- we got lucky to guess right for No. 10.
- Does not take advantage of elevation change. The most memorable holes on mountain courses are the one that allow you to fire straight down hill. I think the potential for hole No. 5 was wasted, throwing along the side of the hill. The basket should be placed down at the base.
Other Thoughts: Nice, clean course. Great for beginner and intermediate arms. Otherwise, course is pretty short.

Very enjoyable course!

Pros: Convenient parking
Water fountain near the first tee
Challenging elevation changes
Intuitive layout
Good mix of open and wooded
Cons: Some overgrown grass
Other Thoughts: Visiting my daughter and son-in-law on the AFB and decided to give this course a go. I was very pleased and want to play it again before we leave. I appreciated the mix of open and wooded holes, as well as the challenge the layout presented via the terrain. Hole 12 was probably my favorite, due to throwing blind. The course is reasonably maintained, but the grass was still a bit high.

I'll definitely make this a regular stop when we visit!

Pros: Nice mix of short and long holes. A few technical holes that required a little more skill. I really enjoyed Holes 5-7. Hole 6 was a true "grip it and rip it" hole which is great for those of you that want to test your power. Tees are clearly marked with a minimal graphic and distance. There are no next tee markings but it isn't too difficult to find the next tee without it.
Cons: It hasn't rained in about 4 days but there was still a lot of standing water on quite a few holes. There are a few holes that you could lose a disc or two on. Watch out for #8, don't let your disc fade too far left or you'll lose it down the hill amongst the weeds and cacti.

Opinions Are All Over Board On This Course!

Pros: Wow! Pearsall Park DGC is one of those courses that elicits a wide range of opinions from reviewers. I happen to find myself in the camp appreciating her charms.
The tee signs were simple, small fiberglass map signs mounted on 12 x 12 wooden posts, very vandal resistent! Fairly simple but with just enough information. The pads were concrete and the Discatchers with the yellow bands were easy to spot.
I agree with other reviewers that holes 1-4 were nothing special. But then # 5 brings you out to what one reviewer calls the spine. The view here was pretty special! You have about a 180 degree panaramic view overlooking the Lackland Air Force Base and much of the valley. And just when I reached this spine, three fighter jets took off from Lackland! That's the sound of FREEDOM, gentlemen! I found that to be a pretty special sight.

Back to the course. Holes 5 & 6 play along this spine. Both of them are unique but a little scary at the same time. You don't want to hyzer way down the hill here.
I really loved # 8. It's a tight 228' downhill ACE run to the basket staring up at you. Should be so easy, right?
# 12 was another scary favorite of mine, especially playing the course alone and for the first time. It's a 241' downhill with hyzer touch needed to a barely visible basket surrounded by thick brush and trees.

I liked # 14, a tight 294' uphill shot with the basket barely peaking out.

And I thought # 16 was kinda fun with the basket 329' away and tucked up into the corner under some trees. It's a semi-tight hyzer to get around the corner on this hole.
Sani-cans and a working water fountain near the parking lot.
Cons: I agree that there are a couple of "filler holes" here. Probably 3-4 that don't help the course's rating in any way.
The first 8 holes are out in the bright sun. There's no escaping it out there. Bring a hat, sunscreen, water, etc. The last 10 holes give you some relief.
There are a few places where losing a disc is a real possibility.
Other Thoughts: Some really fun holes. A couple ACE runs. A couple of semi-scary holes. A few semi-boring holes. A couple of anhyzer throws to be made. I think Pearsall runs the spectrum from the good to the not-so-good holes. I'd make it a regular on my disc golf outings if I lived in San Antonio. But I think I'd play early in the morning before it warmed up too much.

Pros: Beautifully laid out and not packed, holes range for easy and grassy to hilly and blind, some awesome elevation changes
Cons: Heavy brush in the rough spent a lot of time looking for disc but more our fault for throwing off fairways

Pros: Lots of elevation change. Good mix of long wide open shots and technical shots. Great views.
Cons: Plan time to look for lost discs. There are shots that if you go off course it can take a while to find the disc... Or bring a hand full of drivers that you don't mind losing.
Other Thoughts: Overall, this course is well designed and a lot of fun to play.

Pros: -good warm up course if you haven't played in a while.
-wide open shots you can really see how far you can throw with a goal of finishing the hole instead of seeing how far you can throw in a field and chasing your disc down and throw it back.
-good signage, easy navigable.
Cons: this is not a course i will be returning too. it was far to easy to shoot under par and walking the course was straining.. built on the side of a hill/land fill you do a lot of hiking and not a lot of throwing.
Other Thoughts: i didn't see a single person when i played here so if you want to escape into a game and not have to deal with the crowed this is a good place to go.

Pros: nice t-boxes, signs are clear, easy to navigate, not busy.
Cons: there aren't very many wooded holes. if you're only playing the front 9, save yourself the drive and go pick a target in an open field and throw.
most holes are wide open with no challenge other than elevation. and boy is there some elevation.
the holes that aren't wide open are so over grown you have to throw down a 5-10 foot wide ally.
this course is very unforgiving. the brush on the sides is so thick I spent 20 minutes looking for a disc 10 feet from the path.
the wooded holes would be nice if someone did some major brush thinning but the way it is, if you're wearing shorts don't even play this course.

Other Thoughts: this course needs either more people playing it to beat down the brush or more maintenance.

great place to practice throwing up and down hills.

everyone is saying "nice mix of holes" but you can look at the pictures on this site and see it's %75 wide open field.

Pros: This is a disc golf course that has a challenge for all skill levels. One of a kind for sure. I probably have played this course more times than any other in the Austin-San Antonio area. My most favorite! First you are greeted with four good warm-up holes 1-4 varying in length from 223 on hole 1 to a little over 300 on 4. Then the fun starts. Hole 5 plays on the north side of the "spine" and is a little over 300 feet. Keep in mind that on the first five holes there are no obstacles, just length and wind to deal with. After hole 5 you progress to hole 6 on the bottom of the north side and shoot toward the basket 350 or so feet away. Tough one to par for beginners. Hole seven plays by the scrub on the north side. If your disc flies into the scrub, forget it. I've lost two down there and have never found them. It is too steep and and too many trees to attempt a "search and rescue" of a disc. Holes 8, 9, and 10 play down and around the bottom of the "spine" and bring you back to hole 11. This is a 190 foot blind throw up the hill. Good deuce, possible ace hole. Holes 12, 13, and 14 play down on the south side of the "spine." They vary in length from 250 on 12 to around 300 on 14. You are back up on the "spine" to play the 190 foot (ignore tee sign, it says 290) hole 15, which is a good deuce opportunity. Hole 16 plays from up on the south side then 300 feet into the woods which brings you to 17. Hole 17 plays on a dogleg to the left and can be easily parred in 3. Hole 18 brings you back to the parking lot and is an excellent practice basket as well.
Cons: No benches, some tee signs are wrong. Lack of obstacles on some holes. More trash cans needed. Lots of trash scattered around the fairways.
Other Thoughts: If I were to recommend a good, overall course to play for any disc golfers of any skill level, it would be this one. There is good, medium, and excellent challenge holes here. While this may not be the best course in San Antonio, it still holds its own as one of the better courses in the area. When you are here, play this one. I think you will agree with me. For purposes of this review, "spine" means the top of the hill where holes 1,2,3,4,11,15, and 18 are played.

Pros: Keeps you challenged. Nice mix of holes. Nice views. Its a nice change from most courses in San Antonio.
Cons: Plenty of areas to lose ur disc. I had to go trail blazing a couple of times. Confusing trying to stay on course and find the baskets from the tees.
Other Thoughts: Apparently they have really cleanup up the course. Mowed lots of high grass. Honestly, this course is very difficult and long. Had to take breaks...but maybe I'm just out of shape.
Oh yeah....Dang its windy!!!
