Pros: 1. You are in Costa Rica and there IS disc golf!!!
2. Good layout for beginners and a few nuances to keep upper level players interested.
3. Cool local baskets
4. Tee boxes for all 9 holes
5. Good use of existing elevation
6. Opportunity to throw a variety of shots depending on your preferences (straight, hyzer, anhyzer, hammer / thumber)
7. Good distance variety (~200' to ~300'+)
8. Great, friendly, and helpful locals (Thanks Aaron, JJ, and Rebecca)!
Cons: 1. Only 9 holes
2. No extreme elevation change
3. Pros might find the course lacking in technical challenges
Other Thoughts: This is currently the ONLY course in Costa Rica, and I personally appreciate the great efforts expended to make this course what it is! The course is on private land, so I recommend contacting the owner by email or by facebook [Bagaces Disc Club (BDC)] to establish a time that you can play (the owner was most gracious to join my wife and I for a couple of rounds during our visit). While some may think that my overall rating of the course is harsh, I'd like to further explain below.
I reviewed this course as a 3-disc course, "Good," but it could easily be a 4 or even better with a well designed back 9. This is a great course for just about any level of player, though a pro may find that there is a little lacking for difficulty. The area where this course is located does not have the same rugged / semi-mountainous terrain of other regions of Costa Rica, but the course designer (Aaron - also a "ball golf" course designer) did well to utilise the elevation change that is available. While not the most challenging course (most intermediate players will score near "par"), it is definitely fun!

I had the opportunity to meet the owners (Aaron and Rebecca) and co-founder / club-member (JJ). All wonderful people and extremely welcoming to weird out-of-towners meeting them in the middle of the week! My wife and I had a great time visiting and playing their really fun course, and I really do hope that they get the time and motivation to put in a slightly more technical back 9 to complete the course and take it to the next level.

While only rated "good" on the overall Disc Golf Course Review scale, this course was a full 5 for me because of the awesome experience I had there...I even bought a couple of Bagaces Disc Golf Club stamped discs!!! Thank you for taking the time to read about the course, and a special thanks again to the owners / founders for putting the cherry on top of my fantastic Costa Rica honeymoon vacation!
