Easier Half of The Lakewood Park Duo!

Pros: The North 9 of the Lakewood courses starts beside the lake. The lake doesn't really come into play but is there as a nice backdrop. The course has these nice long, narrow concrete tee pads. The signage is excellent having a picture of the hole on the signs. The holes have multiple tee pads which not only are longer but sometimes just give you a different angle on the same hole. Some holes might have three listed distances, some two.

# 2 throws right over a picnic shelter. I liked # 4 throwing to a basket set in a small grove of trees. # 5 plays on a fairly narrow strip of land between the street and a parking lot.

# 7 is the Island Hole that everyone talks about. It's either 265-325' but plays across a park road to the basket on the cul-de-sac. And # 8 has a big tree in the center of the fairway forcing you to make a decision as to which route to take.

Cons: Definitely some safety concerns on holes 5 and 7 playing close to parking and streets. You may have for a moving car before throwing.

Course is just recreational level. No major challenge involved.

Central Kansas wind blowing like hell!

Other Thoughts: This is another of the nice pit stop courses on I-70 passing through Kansas. What makes this Salina Lakewood Park Duo stop especially tempting for us course baggers is the fact you can stop and play both Lakewood North & South and rack up two courses for the price of one 18. Nice and close to the freeway and an easy throw although the South 9 is no walk in the park.

Pros: Quick, easy to follow, not just a pitch and putt some good fairway lines to hit. Accessible quickly from I-70. Has a sister 9 on south of park. Multiple tee pads
Cons: No restrooms on this side. I knew what I was getting into so not really.
Other Thoughts: Super quick and fun. With the Cozy Inn across town my wife and I now consider Salina a regular pit stop.

Pros: Simple course with nicely integrated tree obstacles. Additionally, the area is well maintained and clean. The course was also very easy to follow.
Other Thoughts: The course was simply average. Nothing too memorable about it.

Pros: Very nice setting with lake in view during most holes.
Cons: Has a miniature golf feel to it, although that's not really such a bad thing. Boat ramp access road is plunked down right in the middle.
Other Thoughts: Layout is such that you stay in a more general area than Lakewood South. A kinder, gentler course than its sister one, excellent beginner's course.

Fun park course with a little danger involved

Pros: Course is in well taken care of park. Good signage. Excellent place for beginners to learn the game. Multiple tees, some of which are lateral to the other tee as opposed to short and long allow for a round of 18 without heading over to the course on the opposite side of the park. (Of course you'll want to). Cool island hole placement in the middle of a cul-de-sac on #7.
Cons: A number of the holes are WAY too close to parking areas (including the island pin). There are a number of spots where you could very easily hit a parked car, a moving car along the park road or busy street to the north. Hole #5 is especially dangerous. Due to this, the course may not be fully playable when a lot of non-DG'ers are using the park.
Other Thoughts: Considerably easier than its sister course on the other side of the park. The North 9 still provides for a good opportunity to work on hitting precise lines around trees and working on your approach shots. If you're in Salina and have newbies or kids, this is the best place to introduce them to DG. Best on weekdays.
