Good not great

Pros: -Good layout and signage
-Multiple basket positions
-Good community support (league, FB group, and tourneys)
-the 13ish holes not affected by the lake
+some fun technical shots through windows and around trees
+can't lose a disc on these holes
Cons: -the 5ish holes next to the lake that are affected by:
*Muddy, stagnant lake water
*Poorly maintained shoreline
*Fishermen and lots of geese poop come into play
-No benches, drinking fountains, bathrooms, or trashcans on the course besides where you park
Other Thoughts: This could be a much higher rated course if the lake and its shoreline is improved. I don't mind retrieving a wet disc, but it is not worth it to do here.

It is a good intermediate-level course. There are 3 holes that your drive is over water. (You can play around the water if you wish.)

 Excellent small town course

Pros: 1. Course utilizes many natural features to increase your skill level (Water, low ceilings on a few shots, a few baskets between tree's, etc).
2. Easy to navigate
3. Tee's, baskets, and signs are clearly defined and easy to find.
4. Beautiful scenery with wildlife and nature to enjoy while playing
5. Baskets have 2 positions that get changed randomly increasing the skill level and fun to reach them all.
Cons: 1. Often tree's are in need of trimming and can block baskets
2. Geese poop around all the water holes, bring a spare towel.
3. Easy to feed the lake with a disc or two, and its not the kind of water you want to go into to get your disc.
Other Thoughts: I've worked in Grinnell for 11 years and play threw this course a couple times a week on average. If you're going to shoot the water holes its good to bring some cheaper or older plastic. I usually carry a DX Beast in my bag for this purpose.

Pros: Good variety of holes. Many challenging shots that ask if you are willing to risk the loss of a disc for a lower score.

Good parking and good baskets.

Concrete pads with good signage.
Cons: Several of the trees could used trimmed.

Goose poop everywhere.

The layout is not especially flowing but works okay.
Other Thoughts: A definite fun course that will be enjoyed by my family on a fairly regular basis.

Close to I-80, but not worth the detour

Pros: Well maintained on day played
Good teepads
Great signs and graphics
Never far away from the car if you park at #1
Cons: No real elevation changes - flat course
Only a couple holes require tight line shaping through and around trees
Other than the water, no challenging holes
Other Thoughts: IMO.. The repeatedly playing over around around the scummy pond is over done. #4 and #18 in particular are pointless. Bring bug spray. Baffled at the higher ratings.

Pros: Scenic course, plays around a small lake that is teeming with wildlife. Good signs, good concrete tees, and nice baskets. Several holes where the water is in play adds difficulty. Moderately wooded with mature trees that really grow over and make for some tough lines. Good disc placement is a must. A bad skip or a roll away could land you in the lake. Decent flow, good use of space. Just a clean, well-maintained park that is very rarely busy.
Cons: Goose/duck poop. Not so bad in the spring and fall, but in the middle of the summer it's everywhere. It's not a very long course, very little change in elevation, but overall I think it uses the available space quite well.
Other Thoughts: I would consider this an intermediate type course. It isn't long, but you have to be able to hit lines, land your disc in a good space, and make some bold shots over water. Hopefully some more people that have played this course recently will offer some reviews, because most of the complaints from the old reviews here are history. I really enjoy this course, and plan on playing it more often this year. League on Mondays @ 5:30p.

Pros: The course is a good test to see what gender you are. You either sack it up and go for the gnarly water shots, or you lay up and lose strokes to your competition. Great course. Great flow. Well designed. Not busy. Clean. Drove with a bunch of dudes from Des Moines and everybody loved it.
Cons: ONLY con would be the geese poop. Some holes are more poopy than others.
Other Thoughts: Course could get expensive. We had 5 guys playing. 4 discs in the water.

Pros: -nice little park
-good tees and baskets
-18 holes
-the trees give a low ceiling for you to throw making you control your throws and adding difficulty to the course
-when we played there was no one else here so we had the course to ourselves
Cons: -the lake/pond is in play on almost every hole and if you threw in, its not the type of water you would want to swim in.
-the layout of the course is not great, there is no good flow
Other Thoughts: I would only play if I was in the area but it is still a lot of fun. Better than many courses out there.

Pros: Amenities. Ample parking, picnic shelter, restrooms.

Variety of holes. Each hole has its own challenge, whether with big right to left holes, slight left to right holes, guarded baskets, water in play on multiple shots, low ceilings, and mature trees scattered in fairways. Most holes offer multiple lines. Every hole was enjoyable and fun.

Baskets. All baskets are in good shape, multiple pin positions available to mix things up.

Tees. Concrete tee pads with a tee sign showing a rough map and distance to the multiple pin locations.

Navigation. Relatively straightforward, check the tee sign, the nearest tee isn't necessarily the next tee, but each tee sign can easily be spotted from the previous basket with a little bit of searching. If in doubt, print a map or play with a local.
Cons: Residential area. A couple holes got quite close to a neighborhood, a high hyzer on hole 12 easily ends up in the yard or on the garage roof. (occupant seems friendly and understanding, as he gave us a rake to retrieve a disc off the roof). But this could be avoided with a mando.

Length. Most holes were short to medium length, only one hole (10) was approaching 400'.

Not for beginners. Though short and offering relatively simple lines, it would be a perfect place to learn the game if it wasn't for the water on multiple holes, I'm sure that lake gobbles up discs for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Other Thoughts: An enjoyable round worth the stop if in the area, be prepared for water and maybe carry some 'water' discs if you're worried about losing any.

 Needs A Trim

Pros: -Great layout, loss reward with multiple water holes
-Mach III Baskets
-Concrete Tees
-Logical flow
Cons: -Trees need a trim, there's a lot of low hanging branches in throwing lanes
-Attack geese nesting near fairways
-People fishing could be in the way
Other Thoughts: I enjoyed this course. Some of the holes just had too many low hanging branches to make an accurate throw with any distance. Tight fairways are okay, just need to be trimmed up a bit. Other than that I highly recommend it.

Pros: Scenic, makes good use of land, right off the Interstate 80 like posted before, fun shots over water, good stop to play a relaxing round.
Cons: Needs new tee signs, back 9 tee pads are Not poured, goose/duck poop, tee to pin direction can be a tad confusing the first time.
Other Thoughts: Geese and ducks make for a scenic course with the lake playing through. Fun course, worth the stop. Plays over the water are pretty easy and some pins play close to shores.
