Not bad for a small town course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 7, 2018 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Well groomed park
Picnic table, playground, etc. are pretty well out of play
Great course for beginners
Short and long tees for each basket
Only 6 baskets (w practice basket)

Cons:

Long tees are no longer marked
Most of tee signs are either gone or in poor condition
Canal and houses on hole 3 can be a mess for beginners

Other Thoughts:

It's a nice little 10 hole course if you know your way around. Although it's mostly suited for beginners, it's also a great course to play with only mid and putter if you're a more advanced player. This course is rarely played, so if you're looking for even more challenge you can make your own safari course with plenty of long crushes and a few tricky approaches.

Tough To Rate 1/2 A Course! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 23, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

The Arakelian Park DGC is part of the two park course that together equals = One nine hole course. Less than 1/2 mile away, Gallo Park contains the other four baskets.

This is a lovely little neighborhood park with very lush green grass, picnic area, play areas and five baskets which play around the perimeter of the park. The course has the standard "Rules of Disc Golf" sign at the beginning. The great little colored tee signs contain all the info you need, Hole #, Par, distance, basic map and arrow pointing to the next tee. The concrete pads are a little small but they'll suffice here. The five baskets are numbered 1-3-5-7-9??? I assumed (wrongly) that 2-4-6-8 would be at the other park.

The holes are all less than 250'. I think only the third hole had any kind of obstacles and were a drainage canal on the left and houses on the right. I'm sure a few discs have found their way into both of these hazards.

Cons:

Only five holes.
Beginner distances.
Tee sign facing the wrong way on 3rd hole.
Hole # 3's hazards (ditch & backyards) seem unduly harsh for the clientele who will probably be playing this course.

Other Thoughts:

Not a bad little Pitch & Putt set up or a course to bring the beginner. This is a strange situation with the course being being split in half between two parks but I'm sure the designers had their reasons. Very difficult to put a rating on here or Gallo with 5 and 4 baskets, respectively.

Faulty layout, nice park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 8, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Arakelian Park itself is well groomed and a pleasant place to play. The tee pads and baskets are in good condition. The course plays well as a recreational course due to its very short length. There generally aren't too many people around which does allow for unhindered play, except for the first three holes of the course. The openness of the park, slight changes in topography, and winds make for interesting safari options.

Cons:

Holes 1 and 2 are nearly unplayable if there are children around the playground. The baskets for holes 1 and 2 are no more than forty feet from each other, and the tee pad for hole 3 sits in the fairway for hole 2. The tee pads for holes 5, 7, and 8 are all slanted and provide for difficult footing when making a throw. Hole 5 plays at the west end of the course and can be a headache for new players whose discs may hyzer into the backyards of neighboring homes. There are a few holes where tables don't sit far from baskets, making some throws nerve racking. The biggest knock on this course is a poorly conceived layout leading to safety issues.

Other Thoughts:

The lack of space in the park limits the ability to have a truly interesting course for all skill levels. If you are a more advanced player and in the area it's worth checking out just because it does provide for some good short game practice. Hole 7 is an enjoyable hole, as is hole 9 in my opinion. Unfortunately, the layout issues make this a frustrating course a good amount of the time.

Livingston 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 17, 2010 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

- mach 3 pins
- tee signs are there
- cement tee boxes

Cons:

- By a park with kids
- no difficulty all open grass shots

Other Thoughts:

Its a little 9 holer with no much difficulty. I usually shoot an -8 to -9 out of 9 holes. if i par a hole i get pretty upset lol. Its a maintained park kinda in the ghetto but good to practice up shots and putting on.

Nice little park, poor design 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 22, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Well manicured park (saw a guy on a huge riding mower and another with a weed wacker while playing)
-Nice concrete tee pads
-Nine new DGA baskets
-Nice DGA tee signs
-Practice basket
-Decent distance on 6, 7 & 9

Cons:

-Crossing fairways (on a 90ft hole? Really?)
-Bad flow, long walk from basket 5 to tee 6 comes to mind
-Hole 1 plays awefully close to a childrens playground
-Hole 6 is 25ft past one of the only picnic tables in the park
-Hole 8's tee is 20ft in front of basket 7

Other Thoughts:

A well manicured park like this could be home for a decent course but this isn't it. Uninspired course design kills any hope of that (and hopefully nobody at the park). As with any park like this safari options are easily more creative but I don't believe in giving any points for that.
