Fun Park Course
10 Helpful / 0 Not
Pros: -9 Baskets (up from shared)
-Good use of park area
-Buckets at each basket for trash
-Quick play
-Interest for moderate player with water in play on 3, 4, 5, 8
Cons: -Tees are marked with line of bricks
-1 Brick has hole info, another sign has hole info, most differ
-#5 and #7 baskets easy to mess up, especially with no map
-#2 works between a tennis court and the train tracks
Other Thoughts: Charma Park DGC, is located in a nice city park on the north side of Dunkerton, IA. From past reviews, this seems to have been upgraded to a full 9 basket course with several obstacles to work around. #2 works between a tennis court and the railroad tracks (actually had a train go by while playing). #3 needs to stay left to stay out of the tracks and some water near the basket. #4 has the creek flowing on your right. #5 and #8 shoot over the creek. Beginners will probably skip or lay up on these holes. My buddy and I had a great time here, even though we had to fish in the OB rough past the RR tracks on #2, fish out of the creek on #4 and #5. For a city park course, there is a lot of interest working around obstacles. Precision is the key here. I could see this park a little busy on a nice weekend afternoon, but we were here by ourselves. Fixing the signage to be correct along with some concrete pads would add here, but a fun course in a small city park. I would play here again.

Lack of direction on course

Pros: There were nine baskets.
Each tee off (never a full power shot as all holes were between 160-290 ft).
Good use of trees as hazards from each tee pad.
ers are fine, beginners will skip it).
Cons: The direction from one basket to the next was kind of a hassel, and there were many tee signs missing (I think 6 of the 9 holes didn't have them).
There were two holes that you threw across the water (advanced players are fine, beginners will skip it).
Navigation got even harder when hole 6 and 8 decided to share a tee sign and tee pad (went from hole 5, saw hole 7 and 8, couldnt find 6 until we finally got to 8).
Some shots had little to no path to even aim your disc on the initial throw with how the trees and bushes have become overgrown (thinking hole 9 espcially)
Other Thoughts: If you don't mind a little scanvenger hunt to find each tee pad and basket, this course was great for working on your midrange shots with obstacles. Still fun!

Pros: It is now a honest 9 hole course. Well laid out, two over the creek shots.(Shallow water). Plenty of places to dispose of trash.
Cons: Needs better signs. (front) holes on short side
Other Thoughts: Great short course, trestle running along park.

Pros: Easy to play
Able to play the course quickly
Little used park
Cons: Close to playground, may not be able to throw if children are present
Close to a picnic shelter
Holes are short, mutiple tees for different holes
Other Thoughts: I had cousins that lived in this town as we grew up. We went to this park many times as children. It was fun for me to play this park because it brought back many memories of my cousin who we lost a few years ago. This was a fun park to play for me, but I would not have gone out of my way for this course if I did not have a sentimental reason to.

short but nice

Pros: very nice setting, clean and well maintained park. a few holes that require some thought before throwing. very light pressure, yet to see anyone else there
Cons: tees are a little tough to find, 3-4 holes share the same basket, so if there were more than a few groups throwing it could be very dangerous.
Other Thoughts: great short course, my son actually birdied 2 holes, so a great beginner course. the creek is fairly shallow so any over throws on 3-4 shouldn't cause any issues for retrieval. very scenic and worth a play for the 15 minute drive north from waterloo, not sure if id go out of my way if i was much farther away tho.

Charma Park

Pros: Nice new baskets
Not crowded
Good use of a small area
Cons: Teepads/baskets shared by multiple holes
Very short and compact
Other Thoughts: The population of Dunkerton is listed at only 749 so the fact this course exists at all is pretty cool. All of the holes are pretty short and all are ace opportunities. Course winds around a playground so there could be kids running around. Would be surprised if you ran into anyone else playing the course. I wouldn't go out of my way to play here but it's cool that it exists.
