Chippewa Creek DGC begins its play near the house that Grant Wood used as his backdrop to American Gothic, located in Eldon, IA. A nice side trip before or after your round in the museum next door details the life of Grant, his sister (the woman in the painting) and the painting itself. A nice gift shop also includes Innova DX Rocs, stamped with the house logo for only $10. The course begins about 100 yards south of the museum and once past, follows a walking trail for a stretch before doubling back and finishing behind the museum. Mostly open lines. Has a burm to work over #2 and coming back on #9. These 2 shoot at each other, could be an issue if this would ever get busy. #4 is in a protected alcove and there are fairway trees on #4, #5, #6 and #7. #8 is a 200' ace run. It was very quiet on my Friday morning round, but I can see issues with the walking path. Having the history lesson next door was fun and I enjoyed my round. Would play again, if in the area.

• Nice course that starts at the American Gothic House, winds through a neighborhood park, and finishes back at the American Gothic House.
• Most of the fairways are around 300ft+, with the one being 540ft, and one Ace Run Tunnel shot at 200ft.
• Scorecard with map available at the center.
• The American Gothic House Center also sells Gothic House Stamped DX Discs for $10. (Leopard, Roc, and Aviar)
• Detailed tee signs with map, par, and distance. Tees are natural with a wooden strip. (not a pro, just a mention)
• Fairly easy to navigate. Two or three "Next Tee" Signs on #4. (First timers will still want a map)
• Couple of Risk/Reward tunnel shots (#5,#8) As well as a few blind shots (#2,#6,#9)
• Very nice surroundings! The park was very nice to walk through.
• Play was quick. For those that want to visit the House, you can play quick but still have a nice round. This way you can see the house, the center, and still get a DG fix.
• Very nice staff at the GH Center

• The course follows a walking path that winds through the park. Most of the shots have a walking path and/or a road to throw over.
• You play up close to some neighbors backyards
• The Rough near the Gothic House is brutal! Avoid at all cost! It's a sea of waist high field grass! RIP Champ Boss
• Long walk along the road to #4,

I had a very enjoyable visit to Chippewa Creek. Though a course at the Gothic House definitely classifies as more "Novelty Course", it plays more like a healthy rec course. I have to say the course was better than I had anticipated. It Starts and finishes on the Gothic House (GH) property, but it winds through a really nice park that is adjacent to the GH. It's not a difficult course, most of the shots are an open field with only a few trees, but they are long enough to let you open up your long arms.
Chippewa creek alone isn't a course I would drive out of my way to play. Since the American Gothic house is involved, you at least have a bigger reason to come visit and bring your discs. I had a good time, and I plan to return to the course again in the future when I'm in the area. It has a good fun factor, and a decent challenge factor. ...for a rec course. I would really give this course a 2.75. Since I had a real good time, I'll round up to a 3.0.

Most holes, you can see the basket from the teepad. When you can't see the basket, it is easy to figure out.

Nice kiosk with detailed map for course.

Nice quick play, if your in the area, its worth playing (if for nothing more than to say you played at the America Gothic house)

Tall grass in play on a few holes (not a lot, but I hate tall grass)

One hole seems to be in somebody's yard. A little akward, because they were working in their yard when we played. Could be bad if you overthrow.

Pay attention to the location of hole 9 when you pass it on hole 2, otherwise it is difficult to figure out its location.
