Beautiful course, but the teepads... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 8, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

* Lovely park setting
* Thoughtful design makes solid use of the available trees
* Many holes offer several shot choices

Cons:

* Tee boxes are installed incorrectly
* Tee signs are installed in the tee boxes
* Hole 1 could use some tree trimming to help with ceiling height

Other Thoughts:

This is a nice little course that someone obviously put thought into designing. It makes very good use of the trees in the park, and several holes offer more shot options than basic RHBH hyzers. I really enjoyed hole 5, which offers a straight putter shot through trees, or a big hyzer route over the ball field. Hole 6 with the tight shots through the trees is fun too. Of the two courses in the area (Minnedosa and this one), this is by far the better course layout. A few of the holes, most notably #1, could use with some tree trimming to make the lines actually reasonable for a par 3 course that's designed for newer players. Tee signs are solid as well with clear distances and obvious basket locations.

Unfortunately all the tee pads were installed incorrectly: they are perpendicular to the line of throw rather than parallel. This makes them useless for teeing off. Even worse, the tee signs were installed in the tee pads, rather than off to the side. This is flat out dangerous: on hole 8 as a RHBH player I actually cracked my hand on the tee sign with my follow-through when attempting to throw off the pad. Hole 6 has the remnants of a tee sign actually sticking up out of the concrete.

As much as I liked the layout of the course, the tee pads really detract from the overall experience. If the town fixes the pads this would be a solid, lovely, course to play on a regular basis.
