Too many tee pads?

Pros: -Baskets OK
-Concrete tees, dual tee for all
-Mostly open lines, fairly short
-Nicely kept park, OK activity for the campers nearby
-In its own section of the park
Cons: -Dual tees on all holes with most of them short even from the "long" tees
-Not much change in shots, mostly straight forward
-DGA "Peel n Stick" (TM) signage with some peeling
-Barely longer than a pitch n putt
-Walking path in play on 4 and 5
-Kind of quirky location
Other Thoughts: Featherstone Memorial DGC plays in its namesake park along the northwestern short of North Twin Lake outside of Manson, IA. A fairly short course, it does stack up to over 3000' off the longs but under 2200' at the shorts. To me the shorts only made things shorter, there was rarely a differing shot from them. For what it is, a DGC next to a camping area, it is reasonable. Campers will enjoy along with other activities. Not a destination, by any means. A basic park course. The dual concrete tees seem nice and you could definitely bring a novice here to enjoy, but other than that, it's your basic course with the old DGA peel n stick (TM) signage. The extra tees seem just that, extra. A bagger course, a novice course, or a course to play while camping in the area. I probably won't play here again.

Flat and OK

Pros: - Good shot variation
- Two tees per hole
- Logical flow
- Few conflicts with other park facilities
- Good descriptive signage. Although some of the distances were labeled incorrectly.
Cons: - Small tee pads
- a few 'tweener' holes (too long for par 3, too short for par 4)
- Favors rolling on too many holes
Other Thoughts: This is a park on the north shore of North Twin Lake. The day I was there, it was absolutely packed with campers and boaters. Most of the course is away from all the bustle, but there are a couple of holes that will have parked vehicles and a bike path some into play. The park is dead-flat, but has enough mature trees and shrubs to make things interesting.
There are quite a few low-ceiling shots that would favor rolling. I don't mind a roller hole here and there, but I think the air shot should be the desirable shot on the majority of holes.

Where I Grew Up

Pros: • Fun nine-holer that makes a person want to keep playing it again and again.
• Good use of trees and bushes.
• Good mix of short and long shots.
• Challenging use of OBs.
• Camping near the course (always a plus!)
• Be prepared to have spectators.
• Hole 6 is the signature hole.
• The par-2 Hole 8 is sheer fun. Nice idea.
Cons: • Tee pads are only 7-feet long, and I am 6 foot 4 inches with long legs. It was difficult to adjust to the tee.
• Holes 4 and 5 throw toward each other a bit too closely.
• No kiosk to tell when local leagues happen.
Other Thoughts: • I grew up at Twin Lakes in the 1980s, and I wish this course was there back then! I would have discovered disc golf much sooner. I recall when these trees were planted.
• There is land to the south with trees that could provide another 9 holes and some shots with slight elevation change.

Pros: Nice weed free 9 hole course.
Easy to navigate with some fun layout for a little challenge
Good roller course
Some nice trees to navigate
Cons: The tee pads are way too short and have some trippable edges so I just sidled them, I guess this would be my biggest complaint.
Other Thoughts: Nice piece of land that could easily handle 9 more holes.
Other than the tee pads, I did enjoy the course because it wasn't easy but neither was it too hard...it was fun but unless I am in the area, I won't travel the 40 miles it is from my home just to play
