 Fairly Good Course

Pros: Great course for beginners. The course is not long, it is a technical course. Very tight, but not unreasonably so, this is good for beginners as it makes you learn how to use your disc. Short length means you can play with only 2-4 discs.
Cons: Very short means you won't be able to really let one rip, any distance drivers are useless here. The course had an awful lot of holes that turned left. I don't mind some, but it seemed a bit much. The next tees were not marked well. There were 4 or 5 holes I had to spend 3 minutes or so figuring out where the next tee was. A simple sign or arrow on the pins would help tremendously.
Other Thoughts: I enjoyed the course quite a bit. It was fun, and not having to worry about being long I could focus more on shot making. I found that at the end of the round I was much better at avoiding trees and getting the discs to do what I wanted them to do. As a beginner, I left this course a better player than I walked on and at this stage that means a lot. I loved the fact that I needed to figure out how to use my discs. I used a total of 5 discs, but I could have easily used only 2 or 3. I would certainly play this course again.

  Good for honing shots

Pros: Great little course with tight fairways and LOTS of trees. Very good for honing in skills with mid-range and putting since most goals require some curvature of the shot
Cons: Very tight fairways (kind of a pro and con at the same time!)
Other Thoughts: As a newb to disc golf, this course is very challenging in the fairways and through the trees. Most of the fairways provide for good straight throws off the tee box. Gotta watch the trees though!

Pros: This course is tucked into a fairly secluded corner of the state park. It is heavily wooded but easy to find discs that wonder off the fairway. Next hole markings are very useful, goal from previous hole is very close to next tee box which is nice. Overall the course tests some patience because of all the trees, not overly long but still long enough to open up the throwing arm.
Cons: The tee boxes need to be renovated a little better, other than that there was no other cons that bugged me.
Other Thoughts: This course could use a little tlc but it is still in great shape and will definitely play again when I am back up there.

Pros: Easy to find holes, Good beginners course, and pretty nice over all.
Cons: tee boxes needed updating and course markers were gone or faded
Other Thoughts: pretty cool course overall i really enjoyed playing it. the park its set in looks like they only gave them one little corner to build on. if they could use more room they could have a really awesome course, but not bad for what they had to work with.

Pros: -This course is set in a Forest so if you like tight tree lined courses... this is for you.
-Great, very large park. Plenty of other activites to do for you and/or family. Can make a whole day out of it.
-All shots, makes you throw every shot to score well. Most holes are on the shorter range, but with the amount of trees you are throwing through... that is a good thing.

** New Concrete Tee Pads as of March 25, 2010 **
Cons: -Tee signs need to be replaced (work in progress) ** (Complete as of Summer of 2011)
-no mulit-tee or multi-pin placements ( ** As of March 25, 2010 8 holes now have multi-pin play ** )
-best to meet up with someone and play it as navigation is a bit of a challange through the trees
Other Thoughts: Overall, a fun course to play to practice tight shots... I am used to more of an 'open' feel so I have to get used to it. Just started playing a lot, again, recently and trying to garner support for another course in town.

If you are in Jonesboro or are traveling to J'boro to play and interested in playing an object course (for now, hope to have baskets soon) on campus, please e-mail me at

  Course Needs Work

Pros: Interesting layout. Tight fairways through trees provide good tests of accuracy. Not as hilly as I thought it would be.
Cons: Several of the signs at tee boxes are missing or just plain wrong, making it difficult for the first time player to navigate. It looks like some of the tee boxes are in the process of being moved, which adds to the confusion.
Other Thoughts: This course probably won't be there much longer because it's located in a dry county and there's a sign by the first tee from the Parks Director threatening to remove the baskets if they continue to find beer cans in the trash cans. That's Arkansas (banjostan) for you. Otherwise, it could be a great course with a little maintenance. Maybe clear a few trees and add just a little more distance.

Pros: Course has a variety of shots, encompassing many skill requirements.
Cons: There was not much presence of upkeep during my visit. However, it was winter time.
Other Thoughts: The local university students could really take advantage of the park. There's plenty of room for a number of courses.

Kinda wish I lived there (my hometown). It has a lot of potential.
