Pros: -Beautiful Location at a great scout camp.
-Course plays along some great old buildings like the manor house, chapel, blacksmith shop, and radio shack.
-Hole #2, #6 & #7 play past a spectacular ancient maple tree.
-Tee signs good, navigation generally pretty easy and obvious
-Other than #1/7, decent baskets... maybe Lightning DS5s?
-Clean. Absolutely no trash.
Cons: -Private, for scout use only!
-Other scouting activity can interfere with #1, #8 & #9
-Fairways for #1, #8 and #9 cross and baskets get used by multiple holes on #1/#7 and #2/#6. #2 and #7 share the same fairway.
-Grass/Dirt tees not clearly marked... find a spot near the sign and let it rip
-No clear throw lines or fairway for #3 and #4 impossibly narrow
-Only tee shot I could figure out for #2 was a roller under the huge limbs of the maple.
-Concern that this is a course designed for beginners and they may spend most of their time looking for lost discs, especially on #3 & #4. I'd suggest some shorter alternate tees on those holes.
Other Thoughts: I went to the welcome/ranger station and got permission to play, but was told this was a "one time" thing and that the property was not open to non-scouting activity.
Hole #1-Straight shot to a flimsy basket
Hole #2-Straight and short downhill, but have to keep the shot very low!
Hole #3- Short par 4, but barely a footpath for a fairway. Take solace, there's the chapel just past the basket, seek forgiveness for the cuss words said after your tee shot.
Hole #4- A narrow and twisty trail for a fairway with thick undergrowth on either side
Hole #5 - After #4 seems like broadway, but uphill on a narrow path, pretty straight with a slight right turn at the end. Some cool steps and stones along the way
Hole #6 - My favorite, a downhill with a couple of options, with the giant maple on the right.
Hole #7 - Another nice hole, uphill with a bit of a left turn to the same basket as #1.
Hole #8 - Easy and straight across the field (shares fairway with #1 and #9) with a little left turn at the finish. Cool climbing tower near basket.
Hole #9- Easy straight open finish

With a few tweaks, this course should be a fine and fun introduction to the game of disc golf for the scouts. Certainly can be bumped up to a 2 rating with some simple fixes.
