Walk in the park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 10, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Well marked, well maintained front nine.
Concrete tee pads.
Holes throw away from foot traffic so the course is very playable even when the park is congested.
Very little walking distance between holes, the course does a loop around the park and finishes near the main car park.
Regular league day where they sell discs and mark out the back nine holes.
A few aceable holes in the right conditions.
Very little chance to loose a disc.
Not uncommon to see other disc golfers, or even dinner plate players using the course.
Picnic facilities and playground.
Reasonably shady, important in summer.

Cons:

Very very flat.

The front nine holes favour lefties and forehand players. Not particularly long and most of the time you want a line that finishes right.
Only the first nine holes are marked so you need locals to show you the way if you want a full round.
This course lacks variation, the back nine don't really bring anything new to the table.

Other Thoughts:

If you are in Melbourne then this course is still an option. It looks far on the map but even via public transport it takes about as much effort to get to as other baskets in the area.

If you are introducing somebody to disc golf then Barwon is a great starting point.
While nothing is particularly difficult there are a few over hanging trees and bushes that can catch you out. Could be a pro or a con depending on what you like.
A good player could definitely shoot under par.
