pretty good but needs work
Pros: -makes great use of elevation and the large creek
-the holes are not short, this is not a pitch and putt
-fun holes that make the most of what is available
-not crowded, you'll probably be alone out here
-road and bridge available to cross the creek
-camping available on site
Cons: -the tee areas are not easy to find
-a few of the tee posts are missing (1, 3, 6), as far as i could tell
-basket 6 is broken, the pan broke off and dropped to the ground
-basket 7 is completely destroyed but still standing
-no course map, i couldn't find tees 3 or 6
-there were bleachers set up directly in front of tee 8, i teed off to the left, closer to the river
-kind of a long walk from hole 8 to hole 9
-occupied campsites could be in play on holes 6-8
Other Thoughts: I was really impressed with this course. I expected it to be a boring pitch and putt course in a small-town city park. Instead I found a really well-designed course that takes great advantage of the large creek that wraps around 2 sides of the course area. I say course area because it doesn't feel like a park. The east end of the couse is a campsite area, across the street from that is a large playground area (not in play, thus the long walk from hole 8 to 9), and there are homes across the roadway (cuz it's not really a street) from holes 1, 2, and 9 on the west end of the course.
Hole 1 has a cool elevated tee (~25') that plays to the right into an open field. Go left toward the creek to tee 2 which plays along the side of the creek. Pick a place to tee for hole 3 as the tee post is gone (as far as I could tell) and throw across the creek. The basket is to the left of the big fighter jet. Tee 4 is next to the big army tank and tee 5 is off to the right in 4's fairway toward the creek. Hole 5 throws back across the creek with two large trees on the far edge ready to swat your drive down into the water. Pick a place to tee off for 6 (couldn't find a tee post) and the tee for 7 is off to the left of 6's fairway (it looks like tee 7 could be the tee for hole 6 but it's not). Holes 7 and 8 both have the creek relatively close to the basket, especially hole 7. Hole 8 plays toward the south-most portion of the campsite area where the basket is perched in front of a large rock outcropping surrounded by trees and brush. Hole 9 is back in the field near holes 1 and 2.
The missing tee posts and broken baskets need to be replaced. It's hard to recommend a course with only 7 functional baskets but at least holes 6 and 7 are probably the least interesting on the course except hole 9. If the course were properly marked with 9 baskets I would change this rating to a 3.0 but I can't imagine there is much money earmarked for a course in a small town like this. I doubt there is a local following. As it is today, only course baggers will find the drive to Tishomingo worth it, unless you're looking for a park in which to camp in a small town in the middle of nowhere that just happens to have a pretty sweet 9 hole course.

The Pennington Man Shall Pass!

Pros: Nicely designed nine hole in Texoma country!Wow thats hard to find! Hole ones' tee is perfect up on a small hill overlooking the park.2 's tee and basket are strategically placed right along the beautiful Pennington creekway.3's tee utilizes a bit of elevation to assist your drive having to cross over the water to a basket nestled left of the huge fighter jet.Distances aren't short to the point where the holes are too boring. Creekway alongside you makes for sweet views and potential for throwing into it as well only minorly though not too scary.Craggy rocks are cool in your views finishing 8. Remember from this area you must now walk back to where 9's tee is next to a telephone pole in the same field surrounded by roads where you started.
Cons: A would be assassin of hole 7 gnarled up the basket but it did not die!! try making the putt anyway! No map of course and signs are a bit simple and a touch hard to find.Pole saws to open up the tree limbs where your suppose to throw across the creek on hole 5 would help, of course the city placed a bench blocking it so it isn't hard to find!
Other Thoughts: Hole 1's basket and 9's as well are in the same field. They look like practice baskets cuz they're so close together but they aren't.The course starts and ends in the roadway area of 13th street where the outdoor workout equipment is.
