Update 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 11, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice views and area. Great potential for at least a 9 hole course.

Cons:

Maintenance. see previous reviews

Tee boxes are made of surrounding nature (ie: logs/branches), which is fine, but the area is tough to tell where it is, especially this time of year.

Path to next tee box and path to the baskets are either blocked, unclear, or both.

Other Thoughts:

Update from previous review:

I decided to check out the course after playing at Oxbow. I did see the 2 baskets on the front coming in, but these were not labeled with numbers, nor did I see a corresponding tee.

As mentioned, the course starts within the trail past the flagpole. Holes #1-3 were playable. I did in fact find basket #4, although I have no idea where its corresponding tee box is. There is another basket that is unlabeled by the sign of the alternate entrance to the trail, coming up the driveway on the right.

So, I found a total of 7 baskets. None were in bad shape- in fact, aside from a couple leaves in the bottom of the basket, there was no other growth going through nor within them. Exception: by basket #4, there were a couple pieces of a disassembled disccatcher. One wonders how many in fact exist

Golden Opportunity For Some Disc Club To Score Some Discatchers! 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 8, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

Rivendell Academy is some kind of private school on Route 25A in Orford, NH. At sometime, someone got the great idea to install a disc golf course at Rivendell.

Although the DGCR site says the course is temporarily shut down for maintenance, I decided to drive by and see if I could sneak in a round. What I found were two baskets out on the school's front lawn. The course starts (Or should I say used to start just beyond the flagpole). Starting up the trail near the flagpole, I found what I believe was once a tee box, three rotting logs placed in a U shape. Continuing up the trail I discovered an almost new Discatcher basket, the nice model with the yellow band and the number on the side. This basket also had weeds growing completely through the top of the basket. Following the trail off to the left, I discovered another old tee pad and an old laminated tee sign that is so rotten, it's about to return to the earth. The grassy brush on this fairway is approx knee to waist high. But I can see the # 3 basket down there. So after playin # 3, I start a full search and can find no traces of anything. I get hopelessly lost. I'm pretty sure I wandered over the border into Canada. I walked for a long time. I met some little brown men. They were wearing fur clothing and hunting with spears. They offered me some raw seal meat to chew on. I was hungry and accepted their offer. I walked some more. I finally made my way back to Rivendell Academy.

Cons:

No signage.
No tee pads.
They're letting the baskets rust away.
No course.

Other Thoughts:

This would be a great opportunity for some disc club/private individual getting ready to build a course. Approach the powers to be at Rivendell Academy and offer to make a donation to the school ($500, $750, $1000) and in return, your club will rescue the baskets and put them to good use at your new course. I'd make sure you send a group out first and count 18 baskets. I was only able to locate 5. Maybe those little brown seal eating dudes took them?

This is not the course you're looking for 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 24, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

If you live close, it can offer a little practice on nice Disc Catcher Pro baskets.

Cons:

6 baskets, not 18. Short oddly shaped shots. Misleading signage can have you looking for holes that aren't there. I've lived near the course for 2 seasons now and I've seen the fairways mowed once.

Other Thoughts:

Course is at a middle school that has a summer program, so day time rounds are not a good idea.
