Pros: +pretty course with nice grass and huge trees
+some elevation change with fun downhill holes
+tee signs are decent and accurate
+easy to navigate, with next tee spokes in the baskets pointing to the next hole
Cons: -some leaning baskets
-baskets aren't numbered
-a bit of backtracking uphill to get to 3 & 6
-a couple tees too close to other holes' baskets
Other Thoughts: This is a nice college course that should appeal to the new players bound to take up the sport for the first time here. Grass is maintained nicely. The hole designs are relatively easy, but still challenging enough for all skill levels. Also it's a decent workout walking up and down the hillside a few times.

Louisiana College

Pros: -- Beautiful setting in the middle of a small college campus. In some ways, it's almost a single-use area, but any green space (especially one in the middle of campus) will draw foot traffic as well as people just hanging out.
-- Tee signs have all of the basic information (distance, par, OB and map).
-- Elevation. It's not huge, but most of the holes have elevation in play.
-- Good use of obstacles (trees). This is not a wooded course, but it's not open, either.
-- Almost no chance of losing a disc.
-- Best hole is No. 8, 250 feet slightly uphill until the final 30 feet, when the grade steepens significantly. Anything short of the basket leaves you a seriously uphill putt. Well-placed trees to navigate make accuracy important.
Cons: -- Natural tee pads. Most are OK, but at least one has a tree root in it and another has a very large rock.
-- Single-chain baskets. They seem to be holding up fairly well and still catch OK. Baskets are not the same height. Most are really short (too far into the ground) while one is too high.
-- Sometime in the past 2-4 years, this course was changed from 6 to 9 holes. By itself, that should be a positive; however, the space is better suited for six holes. The added three holes lead to a lot of baskets too close to the following tees (1-2, 3-4, 6-7, 8-9). You also have hole No. 5 across the street from the rest of the course to get to 9 holes. In addition, 5 and 6 are parallel to each other, meaning after you play 5, you walk uphill the length of the hole to tee off on No. 6.
-- Areas in the fairways (and the greens in some cases) on holes 5, 6 and 8 are muddy/boggy despite a lack of rain recently.
-- Some baskets (3, 4) are too close to building/parking lots or roads.
Other Thoughts: -- Only one hole is longer than 300 feet, but given its location on campus and its likely target audience, that works to introduce new players to the sport.
-- I played at 8 a.m. on a Saturday, so I don't know how crowded the area is at other times.

Fun quick round

Pros: Wood boxed grass tee pads were in decent shape
Cheap baskets, but were in decent shape
Good use of the elevation
Very large pine tree's makes for a nice shaded course with very green short grass
Cons: Holes are a little close together and flow is not all that great
Only tee signs on #5 and #6
Other Thoughts: This is EXACTLY what a school course should be, a short 9 hole course in an area that is pretty much only disc golf. Now I say that and there is a small path though the course going from the school side to a dorm.
The course is is that gray area of being a pitch and putt vs a longer course. but it makes good use of what was there. I specially like hole #8, the basket is sitting on the edge of a hill and you can run left or right of a couple of big trees slightly downhill. Best hole on the course.
Now there is a weird spot where you cross the street and play a wide open #5 down the hill with a dorm to your right and street to you left, then you have to walk back up the hill and throw down to hole #6 in the tree area.
Would I play here again? No, it is not a course for me, it is a course for the students of the University. If I lived in the area and needed to check out a new disc, I might go play a one disc round, but in general, this is a perfect course for college kids. That is why I give it a high rating for a 9 hole course with cheap basket, it is very good for what it was built for.

Wonderful 6 Hole College Course!

Pros: Louisiana College students are lucky to have this little gem of a course. There aren't many campus courses anywhere that are so perfectly suited for students. The course is set in a lovely, little park area that's not much bigger than a city block. This area has some elevation, large scattered trees and nice green grass. The designers realized that space was limited and wisely decided to go with a 6 hole design. By going that route they were able to make the holes longer, not just pitch and putt distances.
There are no tee pads so you just tee off to the little signs. These signs say LC (Louisiana College) and the hole #. The baskets are single chain models which are OK for this course.
# 1 is just a 180' open Ace Run.
# 2 plays 240' through a window in the trees.
# 3 is 275' slightly downhill through the trees.
# 4. I couldn't find any sign so just played from the # 3 basket to the # 4 basket which is near the street.
# 5 is a cool 210' throw to a basket sitting on a small hill. A player has two options here on which way to go around the trees
# 6 is a 240' throw through the trees.
Cons: Only six holes.
Single chain baskets.
Natural tee pads.
Just slightly more than a pitch and putt.
Other Thoughts: I like when designers of school courses, whether they are elementary school, middle school, high school, or college, design a course that their students can play and have success on. This is a perfect example of a college course that the average student can come out, throw a few discs around, maybe get a birdie or two and generally have a delightful time playing. They won't be searching for discs in tall grass, punishing rough or any water. This is not a course that some disc golfer designed to challenge him and his playing buddies. I believe it perfectly serves it purpose.

Pros: Louisiana College DGC is a perfect example of a course that is effectively designed out of self-awareness. Situated in a small plot of land dotted with trees on a college campus, any course placed here wasn't going to be anything other than casual. The design embraces this fact with a beginner-friendly layout that uses the subtle elevation changes and sporadic trees to good effect: beginners can enjoy a low-key round that still requires some shot shaping and negotiation of obstacles, while more experienced players will enjoy chasing birdies. Although a casual course, there are enough trees and elevation changes to keep things interesting and make a quick visit worth it.
I especially appreciate that the course only has six holes: it makes for a much better layout than if nine were to be crammed in here. As it stands the course plays quickly and is a great option to introduce newbies or get a quick round of practice in.
Parking is nearby and plentiful. The course is easy to find and readily accessible.
Cons: The casual nature and compact design caps the ceiling on what this course can offer. The challenge factor and variety are both limited, which is hardly a true critique given the setting. You should go to nearby Ft. Buhlow if you're looking for a more varied and challenging outing.
Given that this course is a pretty, shaded plot of land on a college campus I wonder how much picnicking/lounging it sees. On my visit on a Saturday in April no one else was around, but perhaps this course would be tougher to play on weekdays.
The layout can be slightly hard to follow given there are multiple baskets in sight at any given point on the course, but it isn't a real impediment.
Other Thoughts: I would consider Louisiana College DGC to be a worth a visit while supplementing a day trip to the area. The Buhlow courses, this, and Kees Park are all easily playable in a day and together make for a very nice outing of disc golf.

LC Disc Course

Pros: Great short course for beginners to learn on and see what the sport is all about. If you don't have much time during lunch break, this course is perfect to relieve some stress.
Cons: Watch out for students passing by or they might get hit.

LC Course

Pros: Kudos to the students for getting this done. This is a great starter course and a fun family course. Fun for the whole family. Fairly good drainage. Course can be played after a heavy rain with only a few bad spots. Great place to get in a few holes before or after work.
Cons: This course is not for those who want to win distance titles.
Other Thoughts: Alexandria hall (directly across the street from tee #1) is usually open and has bathrooms and a water fountain.

Beginner Course

Pros: Good course for beginners and those who only play casually or infrequently and/or who only own a disc or two.
The couse is almostly completely shaded and can be played quickly. The holes follow in a way that makes navigation fairly easy and the 6th (and last) basket ends near the first tee.
This course lends itself very well to one or two disc rounds.
Cons: It is short. As a beginner course, this isn't a problem but better players aren't going to find this course very challenging. There are only 6 holes.
There are no concrete tee boxes and no amenities, but the course is really too short to require benches, bathrooms or water.
Baskets have only a single row of chains although I haven't had any discs kick out so far.
Other Thoughts: This course was laid out on a well-defined area of Louisiana College known as the Cottingham Forest and additional space was left for three future holes. The course was completely paid for and constructed by LC students.
The relatively short distances are great for beginners and kids. If you are looking for a more challenging round, head over to Ft. Buhlow nearby or even Kees Park if you are just looking for a 9-hole roud.
