Easily navigated. Concrete T-Pads. Mixed fairways (mulch, rocks, dirt, grass). Nice Baskets with visible yellow rims. Fun changes in elevation. Short, technical holes. Isolated, with few others that use the area for other purposes.

Lots of ice in winter. Very slippery on the hills. New construction nearby has caused some washout on hole #2.

This was a great, quick course that was easily run through twice. Locals are very friendly and open to having singles jump-in.

-Concrete tee pads have been installed since the last review. They are nice and level.

-Hole Variety: Given what they had to work with, the designers did a nice job with the terrain. Left- and right-turning fairways, uphill and downhill, and some variation in distance.

-Baskets and Tee Signs were in good condition and the signs show the layout of the hole along with length and change in elevation.

-Disc Golf Only Parking; This was a nice touch and made me feel welcome right from the start. There are about 10 spaces near the tee for hole 1.

-Well-defined fairways with room to shape your shot; though a few holes force you through a narrow gap.

-Fairly long walk from 1-2 and 8-9. It didn't bother me and won't cause a navigation issue as long as you pay attention to the signs.

-Only 9 holes

-Hole variation leaves something to be desired. As I said in the Pros, the designers did a good job with what they had to work with, but many of the holes were very similar distances and all holes are tightly wooded. Holes 4 and 6 play right next to each other with one going east and the other west. Holes 2 and 8 have the same issue for the most of the length of the fairway.

-Safety Issues: I was the only person on the course in the rain but I could foresee some safety issues due to the proximity of the fairways mentioned above. There are trees separating the fairways, but I hit a tree on number 8 and ended up on the fairway for hole 2. I didn't have much choice from there but to play down 2's fairway. There is a downed tree across the tee box on hole 7 that needs to be removed. It is 4-5 feet off the ground and forces a throw from the back half of the box. You could perhaps bump your head on it or if it falls the rest of the way it could damage the tee box.

-No holes to really air it out. There just isn't room here for that type of hole unless you reduced it down to 6 holes or something. No big deal to me, but for more advanced players this may leave something to be desired.

I was in the Boston area for a few days and wanted to add another state to my list. Only rented a car for one day and fit in a single disc round here on our way back from Salem. The canopy presented some relief from the rain, and the course felt very secluded considering it is in a well-populated area and about a mile from I-95.

The tee signs and next tee signs are great and made navigation of the course easy despite this being my first time and playing solo.

None of the holes stick out in my mind as being fantastic, but there are still a few of them I'd like another crack at. Number 5 is a very short downhill ace run with a pretty big drop-off behind the basket. I landed right next to the basket and skipped to about 30 feet away. It would have been further if I hadn't hit some brush. (I missed the putt)

This course just has a pleasant feel to it. None of the holes are terribly difficult, but it has enough teeth to punish you if you miss your line. The fairways are free of brush and grass for that matter. They are mostly mulch with a few places where leaves had accumulated.

I don't play many 9-hole courses, but this is the best I have played by far. You can tell the local club takes great pride in the course and really cares for it. Replayability is not great, but it is a fun little stop to get away from it all as much as you can in a metropolitan area. Addressing the safety issues I noted would prompt me to increase my rating to 3.

• Layout & Design... Clever use of available land. Makes strong effort to employ the natural features of the plot. Quick and smooth to play, with many options to easily jump ahead of slow cards. Lots of safari options. Short and clear paths between holes. No overlapping holes.
• Materials... Pro Innova baskets with high-visibility yellow belts, placed in well-cleared mulch greens. Wood-framed teeboxes filled with gravel and stone dust. Perfect signs (bird's eye, distance, and elevation) at each tee. Well-delineated mulch fairways, and tough but fair rough.
• Maintenance... Baskets and signs perfect. Grasses regularly mowed, branches regularly trimmed, shrubbery kept manageably thin and navigable.
• Amenities & Facilities... Dedicated "Disc Golf Only" parking is excellent. Trash bins and benches located regularly along course.
• Vibe & Overall Feel... Great mix of players from noob thru advanced, though no pros; very friendly regulars and almost always a pick-up round available. Weekly singles league consistent and growing; buncha events last year, but taking 2016 off from tourneys. Quiet, isolated, lush, and pretty; feels far more like a hike in the forest than you'd ever guess given its immediate proximity to the highway.

• Layout & Design... Not much variation, as all the holes are short, tight, and wooded; elevation only comes significantly into play on 3 holes; very few chances for creative routes.
• Materials... No significant cons, just watch out for the poison ivy in the rough, and mind the teepads after heavy rains.
• Maintenance... Teepads fairly badly rutted out, and are regularly swamped after rain. More litter and broken glass (watch out around 5's teepad) than there should be given all the available bins.
• Amenities & Facilities... No running water. No bathrooms or PortaPotties. No pro shop or clubhouse. No shelter or cover.
• Vibe & Overall Feel... Not much in the way of cons, generally a great place to hang out, work on your technical game, and meet fellow players. Occasionally run into some loud and obnoxious teenagers, but they're rare. Tends to be humid and somewhat buggy in the warm and wet seasons.

Nice course for beginners. Lot of short holes, but some require some technical shots due to density of woods.

Tee pads need some work. Framed nicely, but basically dirt that is worn from continuous use.

This is a great course to learn on as most holes are reachable from the tee. Challenging holes are 2, 4, 7, and 8 which require a tee shot through a tight opening.

-Good location right off Route 128
-Parking labeled for Disc Golf players
-Nice double chain baskets with yellow banner on top

-Tee boxes can be filled with water and be uneven
-During Fall/Winter leaves can make discs hard to locate
-Ticks during warmer months, but that's normal for woods
-No flag on top to display wind direction

I play this course regularly since I have started playing disc golf a few months ago and really have grown to love it. If you are looking for a quick 15-20 minute game or want to introduce a friend to disc golf this is a top location. You can play all day here and not throw your arm out.

Pretty good little course close to the city

Seems to be infested with deer ticks. I have taken two ticks home on separate occasions and the last one tested positive for Lyme disease, which was attached to my stomach the following day.

Kudos to the designers of this course. They did a great job given the limited acreage. Most of the holes have multiple tight lines to navigate, given perfect tee box placement and basket locations. While the holes may be short, they are challenging. This is a great course to practice your technical shots. The use of the topography is wonderful. This is a FUN course to play. Nice parking, great signage, quite and scenic.

There are only 9 holes and they are relatively short, but given the small amount of area, the designers laid out a very tough and technical short 9, which makes it challenging. The tee pads are some sort of clay soil, or stone dust mixture. They're okay, but hopefully they will put in more permanent tees in the future.

I love playing this course. It's soo much fun. The designers hit the bulls eye by making this course short enough for beginners to manage, yet still difficult for experienced players to get those coveted birdies. Plus, the nine hole layout gives you flexibility to play a quick round, when you've only got a few minutes to spare, or just go round and round and round all day.

I rated this course as 4 stars because it is a nice little 9 hole course. It is packed into a nice course fit into a nice little area. The holes are technical and not much overlap for the small area.

The only real cons are the fact that there is alot of underbrush and landscaping that needs to be accomplished. This should come with time.

I suggest you play this course it is fun.

The holes are pretty well designed so that a variety of skill levels can enjoy them. There are a few straight on ace runs like hole 1, but many of the others will force you to hit a line. There is some good elevation that comes into play. One hole was a163 feet long downhill, and I had to consider what to throw without overthrowing it.

The tee signs are nice and navigation was easy. The fairways are covered with wood chips (those weren't just put. in for the course, were they?), so I imagine it holds up well after a rain.

The parking lot even features "Disc Golf Parking Only" signs, so we are now officially a protected class.

The tee pads are natural and have some ruts. They could stand to have some rubber tee pads.

There isn't a ton of challenge for a top player, but these also aren't a series of deuce-or-die holes.

You may screw up your drive when you start thinking, "Wait, the locals really pronounce 'Peabody' that way?"

This is exactly what the greater Boston area needs more of. Full 18-hole courses aren't going to be feasible in a lot of places, but there are certainly 10 acres of woods here and there that can be the setting of a nice 9-hole course. People on the North Shore suddenly have options, and this isn't a bad one. If I lived nearby, I'd be here a lot.

Only 9 holes but it will be difficult to get many more.

They will not be able to get 18 holes into the piece of land but a few more can be added to bring the pond into play.

I debated a 4 star rating. The course is very well designed and constructed. The maps and next tee posts are beautiful and informative. The course is a very fast play. By myself, it took about 30-35 minutes to play 9.

Starts easy, and increases in difficulty once you get to 6-7-8-9. 8 is a "real deal" hole, that is the best on the course. I really enjoyed playing it, and would definitely go back.

Very close to 128, and easy to find. Well marked, very clean (so far).

No real "cons" in the typical sense, but a few observations. Obviously it would be nice if this were an 18 hole course, but there really isn't space. Wear good traction shoes. The mulch is a rough cut.

Hole 9....I'm not sure how I feel about it. It is only ~245 ft., but I don't really think an average player has a chance for birdie as-is, since the turn is so sharp. There could be an opportunity for brush clearing there to open up more plays.

I told all my friends it plays like a "Devens Beginner Course". It just has a similar vibe, IMO.

Will need undergrowth attention and likely tee pad maintenance in the future (stone dust). Glad to see a trash can, nice map, etc.

If you are in the area, give it a shot, very fun.

This an example of efficient use of a small piece of property. Most of the holes work through tight, technical lines, while still remaining beginner friendly because of the length. Only one hole is greater than 300' which is ideal considering the intent of the course was to introduce new players to the game. The fairways are fair, and considering there are only 9 holes, there is a good mix of straight, hyzer, and anhyzer lines to hit. Quality tee signs is always a plus, and this course has them.

At the time I had played, there hadn't been much foot traffic, which can be bad in terms of undergrowth and saplings popping up. I can imagine that with summer on the way, there could be some poison ivy to battle in some spots. Hopefully locals will give the course love and help with upkeep. I'm unfamiliar with the transition from designer/builder to local community upkeep in a situation like this, where a not-so-local designer installs a course. Hopefully it will be smooth!

If you're a seasoned player, and you're looking to open up on a couple of holes, this isn't the course to do it. However, if you're looking for a quick evening round, and you're local to the Peabody/Salem/Danvers area, this is a good spot to get in a quick 9. It would be nice to see another 9 added in the future (if space allows?)
