Partially boxed in , between Natchez Trace Rd and Airport Rd is The 9 hole Lexington DGC . Plenty of parking near the control tower , I mean one story building . I did not see a bathroom here , so you may want to take care of that before coming .
THE EQUIPMENT - The tee pads aren't big , but they are a blend of some typed of crushed rock . It grips well and is nice to look at . The tee signs , with hole # , par , distance and flight path , are metal and sit on wood posts . Petty nice . It also has yellow banded Discatchers . There is a putting basket near the start of the course . T tee 1 , there is a metal sign with the rules of golf , and a trash can .
THE LANDSCAPE - The runway is still here . and the wide open areas on most of the holes will be in close proximity of it . All of the fairways look recently mowed . The surrounding rough is kind of high . Tree lines and some elevation will come into play between holes 5 through 8 . There are some mowed areas to make greens out of . There is a tunnel shot on #8 into a woods section , which eventually pops out and sends to an open area with green .
HIGHLIGHTS - Teeing off from a manmade hill , Hole #5 ( 450' ) is a slowly descending fairway with a tree line to your left and a large tree midway on your right . The green drops down at the end . #6 ( 670' ) is an uphill dogleg left where you have to keep it slightly to the right or you will tangle with high brush nd trees on the left . #7 is only 290' , but it is a hidden green over a hill and straight down . You may want to walk ahead to see where you are throwing to , and use a spotter .
SIGNATURE HOLE - #8 ( 550' I am not sure whether to call it the best hole , but it is the weirdest and hardest . Your drive will go slightly uphill into a narrowing fairway and eventually into a tunnel of woods . If you land just right in the woods , there is a doorway that you can throw through , but still not get close enough for a long putt . If you don't land there , the woods will eventually end and you will be forced to throw to the right and almost backwards slightly downhill to the green . Bizarre .
THE TIME - There is some length to the course at 3464' even with a 200' hole . It took me about 35 minutes to play it . A foursome can get through in a little over an hour .
The course is only shared by some fitness or dog walkers .
The beginning holes and hole at the end can let you air out your arm some .
Easy navigation . there is even some mowing between baskets and tee pads .

REPETITIVE - 5 of the holes ( 1-4 and 9 ) are out in the open . Since it is windy , you will be digging for and throwing your disc from high grass . These holes could be classified as boring .
WIND - both a pro for some and a con . It will blow your drives , making even the 200' hole a putting adventure .
DISC RISK - I am combining this with the high grass encompassing the fairways . Disc risk is moderate , but there are a couple of windy spots where your your drive can go into high grass or bushes , and even scale a chain link fence on part of the property . us a spotter if you can . It would help if someone shaved down some of the high grass.
9 - Only 9 holes
Not any real shade here . Bring a hat and some water .
You may have to hold up a shot or two , as the grounds ( mostly the runways ) are shared by the fitness and dogwalkers . It is not a safety issue . Share the space with them .
Some benches or a picnic table would be nice .

This course is a real piece of history , not just for the locals , but out of towners as well . Who gets to throw close to and over actual runways from a closed airport ? You can actually walk the grounds and see what small airports looked like in 1945 , when it was dedicated . Course designer Keith Wish did a good job with what he had to work with . I never saw another disc golfer at 4:00 on a Sunday , so I don't know how popular the course is . You might have it all to yourself .
MY RECOMMENDATION - A little long for families , 1 disc players or newbies learning the game . Just some practice and a couple of challenging holes for intermediates on up . I think this course could serve the locals well . It may have been just what the Lexington area needed . Not far from I-40 , this a good stop for the Course Bagger , and traveler , and you can cut through Lexington going to/from the famous Shiloh military park from the Civil War . Not a course you will aspire to visit , but the grounds have a story to tell . If living within 20 miles , or driving in the vicinity ,MAYBE TRY IT

Unique setting for a course on an old airfield and runway area. It was somewhat surreal playing over the runways and taxiways.

Concrete tees, good baskets, signs were adequate (each hole even had a nickname). Practice basket, ample parking. Area appeared to be only used for disc golf, no other park activities to interfere.

Good variety of distances from hole to hole ranging 200'-670'

A place you can really air out some drives as it is a mostly wide open course with several longer holes.

Holes 5-8 are (my opinion) the best here playing in an area with more trees and more elevation, and baskets not visible from the tee. (Though there appeared to be more space here, so too bad more of this area was not used for more holes.)

I had no trouble navigating my first time here as there was a mowed path from tee to basket clearly showing the line, then a mowed path to the next tee.

Definitely needs more mowing in the summer months- one mower pass from tee to basket and a mowed circle around the basket is not enough. Anything outside of that was ankle to shin high with many thick spots, and likely not improving as the summer continues on.

5/9 of the holes are pretty much wide open with literally 0 trees and very flat. 2 of the other holes are almost completely open. Understand this is an old airfield--- those things tend to be flat and void of anything.

A couple of the tees are not pointed at the basket, which is really weird when there are literally zero obstacles between the two.

Some of the signs were showing age and look much older than they are, somewhat damaged, and unreadable. Tees actually appeared old. I was surprised to see this course was only installed in 2014.

Being wide open with longer holes spread out, navigation could be tough in the winter months for a first timer. (I took the liberty to make a map and posted it under the links.)

Longish walk from 9 back to #1/parking lot. Could have made 9 a longer and a bit tougher finishing hole as the space is there.

Not a bad course, just personally not a huge fan of wide open, but each hole did have some sort of challenge to it and enough variety to not be boring, be it a fence or runway o.b. or length or deep grass.

There actually seems to be quite a bit more room here for more holes, especially in the back section where holes 5-8 played as that land had more interesting features. Maybe not 18 holes, but 12-14 would have been the best.

Considered posting this in the cons, but I will put it here: Hole 8 was definitely one of the most difficult holes I have played anywhere. Very narrow uphill through a path in the dense woods for a few hundred feet with disc losing possibility off the slope on the left side over barbed wire fence into people's back yards, then out of the woods where it makes almost a 180 turn back to the right for another medium length shot towards the basket. Basically shaped like a J or shepherds crook. (listed as 550', but Google maps says 700 - only 550 if you abandon the fairway and throw a monster shot over the trees.)

A slight redesign, maybe more holes and wider reguarly mowing of fairways, and this could be a decent to average+ course, but as it is now it is just ok, so I give it 2.0 (Reasonable). I did not mind playing here once, but would likely opt to play Muse in Jackson next time in the area.

Signs said park opened at 8am, but I showed up at 7:30 and the gate was open.

Playing this course in the deep south mid-day summer heat with zero shade will require you to be prepared with sunscreen, water, etc., even only being 9 holes.

This course is built within the boundaries of a closed airfield. The runways and taxiways are still there, with the disc golf holes located in the surrounding area.

Good range of hole lengths from 200' out to 670'.

Small, rough concrete teepads and simple signs with distance, par, and a basic hole diagram. Innova DisCatchers are in good shape and catch well.

The course starts out (Holes 1 - 5) and ends (Hole 9) with completely open holes playing over grass. No trees, elevation, or other obstacles.

Hole 6 is mostly open but does require a dogleg left around some trees, and Hole 7 is open at the tee and again at the basket, but requires hitting a tight gap in a line of trees.

Hole 8 deserves its own paragraph (see cons).

Six of the holes are completely open shots over grass. Nothing to distinguish them but differing distances. Holes 6 and 7 add some variety, but not much.

Hole 8 is the strangest hole I've ever seen, and not in a good way! The tee sign diagram shows a 550' Par 4 that plays as a perfect semi-circle, the basket approximately even with, and right of the teepad with woods between the two. In reality the hole plays straight several hundred feet up a narrow corridor defined by the old airport fence on the left and a wall of forest and brush on the right. The odds of fading a drive over the fence and into the adjacent back yards is high. Once you've navigated this narrow corridor you turn almost all of the way around and throw back toward the basket.

Several of the tee pads were significantly off line from the fairway. They are small to begin with, and having to throw 30 degrees off axis is just weird.

They didn't have much to work with here, but it seems like better use could have been made of the wooded area.

The grass was just starting to grow when I played and I can imagine that disc finding could become a real chore depending on how often it is mowed.

-Depth perception can be an issue on some holes. With this being at the old airport, everything is mostly open which can sometimes be difficult to gauge distance.
-With the exception of a few holes, there aren't really any obstacles to avoid.
-Only a 9 hole course, which prevents variety if you want to play it as an 18 hole. Would be good if they at least set up alternate tee boxes so it could be better played as an 18 hole course.

Having a course located in Lexington is nice for those in the community. Nearest course is about 40 minutes away, and this is much more convenient for those in the community wanting to play. However, for out of town guest, it is difficult to get excited to travel to Lexington and only play a 9 hole course. It is a pretty bland course that really only offers one or two challenging holes. If you live in or are already planning on visiting Lexington it is definitely worth playing, but I wouldn't make a special trip to play it.

This is a pretty course located on an old airport. It is fun throwing over and along an old runway. The course is very clean and well kept. Given the long throws, locating discs could be problematic if the 'rough' was allowed to grow very tall. As expected, the wide open nature of an airport means that there is no place to hide from the wind - love it or hate it the wind could be part of your game.
The airport venue and long throws makes this course unique in West Tennessee. This is a tamer, more manageable version of the Edmund Orgil course in the Memphis area. The wooded holes (6, 7, & 8) are not wooded like most courses in West Tennessee, the entire course feels more like playing in Oklahoma or Nebraska. This course is a nice opportunity to rip on some discs after playing a wooded, technical course like the nearby Muse Park in Jackson.

Long and demanding course for 9 holes.
Starts out wide open and transitions into wooded after hole 5.

Hole 8 has a really weird layout.
Could use some clearing in the wooded areas.

Overall a fun course to go play, could be a 18 hole easily. Will play again.
