Redesigned and needs some TLC 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 8, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Quick Play
-Nice Park
-Decent Flow to Course
-Baskets kinda cool, but (see below)

Cons:

-Homemade Baskets need some TLC, chains need re-attached on several baskets
-Natural tees
-No benches, few trash cans
-Plays close to the road at times
-"Tee sign" is a white stick with a handwritten # (most have worn off)

Other Thoughts:

Spring Park DGC is located in Spring Park, just outside Osage, IA. Originally 18 holes, been cut down to 9. (I think the other 9 baskets went to Watertower Park on the NW corner of town.) The homemade baskets are interesting with the hole number in metal on top, but they need some TLC to fix the chains on several (probably only a day's project). Play is flat with a few trees and most of these are short. More of a "pitch and putt" course. The park seems nice and the play is away from most of the other activities. The road could come into play on a couple of holes (left of 4, behind 5, 6, 7, 8). No chances for bombers here. Cool spring gives the park its name (just a bit north of the #5 basket.) Concrete pads, better tee signs, fix up the baskets would add to the rating here. Although a quick play, I still had fun playing the course. I would play again if in the area.

Not very imaginative. 2+ years drive by

Pros:

If you just enjoy getting outside and enjoying the scenery this is a pretty nice place to play. It's out of the way so you won't get a whole lot of traffic as far as people that aren't playing. The layout is okay, it's not great, but it flows pretty well. Many trees to give it some element of challenge. The park is maintained pretty well. There's little chance for you to lose your discs except maybe on the first few holes as they are near the river. But you have to overthrow quite a ways to get it in the water. Good beginner level/practice course.

Cons:

The layout is definitely not the most challenging for a course. Pretty much straight shots on every hole. The tees aren't very descriptive as they are marked with a permanent marker saying which tee it is.

Other Thoughts:

All in all it's a pretty typical course. There's nothing in terms of Wow! factor here. I've been to this park many times before there was a course, and think they could have used the terrain better, and maybe even utilized a trail or 2. I definitely recommend it to some one who just wants to get a game in. It's pretty decent for what there is for disc golf around North Iowa, but like I said before it's pretty typical.
