Short fun approach & putt

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 28, 2024 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

A fun short 9-hole course in the middle of Fairfield Bay.

Cons:

There is frequent park traffic to be careful of.

Other Thoughts:

We had a great time playing the course during off-hours (early AM)...all holes were short drives, there was some R-L, L-R, uphill and downhill, some neat basket placements. It made some nice practice rounds while we vacationed there. You are throwing over some busy walking paths, thru a wooded but landscaped shared park, and near a road, so you need to wait to throw from time to time. (tee 7 is the sidewalk on a busy road).

Putt Putt Disc Golf course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 26, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Short cement tee pads for every hole (well one uses a sidewalk)
Tee signs on every hole
baskets are still in good shape
Nice tight holes and a few wide open holes thrown in

Cons:

very short for a seasoned player

Other Thoughts:

Very fun round with a risk reward shot on just about every hole. Hit your line, you got a shot at an ace or bird. Miss your line, who knows where you will wind up.

Love the basket in a rock.

Situated behind the putt putt course, this is truly a putt putt disc golf course, I did not use any drivers for any holes.

There are a few tricky spots that you need to pay attention to the map, specially between holes 6 to 7 and then to 8.

Fun for what it is 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 8, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

I will preface all I'm about to say with the fact that I played it twice during a night glow round.

It is a short course, but it at least tries to make it challenging. Most holes are narrow tunnels, and the few that aren't tunnels have some form of challenge.

Signage is great and the tee pads are good. #7's teebox is just a line on the sidewalk, which isn't an issue, just can be confusing if you don't notice the tee sign.

Cons:

There really isn't much that could be changed to make is harder, nor do I think they want to change it, since Fairfield Bay is a retirement town, not a disc golf Promise Land. But there are some holes that are just too easy. #5 is a wide open 225ft shot in a clearing, its only challenge is it is up hill, which doesn't make for too much of a challenge. #7 is wide open with only a small tree on the right and around 200ft. And #8 is in the woods but the lane is so big, the trees aren't really a factor. Like I said, there isn't much to do to make them harder, it's just disappointing for 3 of 9 holes to be pretty much automatic birdies for any skill level.

I played as a glow round the night before a tournament that was played on temporary courses in town, so I didn't have to pay. But there is a shack next to the first tee where is says it is $3 plus tax per round and since it's next to a putt putt course, it is staffed during open hours. I may pay if I was just in town for a day and wanted to play, but if I lived there, there is no way I would pay that. The town is a retirement town and consist mostly elderly people, I can't imagine they make any real revenue from charging people, so just let it be free.

Other Thoughts:

Great little somewhat-challenging course. If your discs are like mine, and have tree magnets in them, it will be a rough time, but it is fun to try and ace them (All 9 holes could easily be aced). There just really isn't a reason for it to cost money.

Not Too Shabby 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 14, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

Very short, most holes I could through my Judge off the tee and make it near the baskets. If you're new and don't want to buy a lot of discs, this is a good course for just a mid range and a putter.

Cons:

-Very wooded, this is the only thing that will keep players from reaching the basket on every drive, many of the holes have very small windows to hit. -Tee pads are short, and this isn't really a con, since you don't really need a run up, but they can through you off if you think about it too much. especially the tees off the sidewalks.

Other Thoughts:

Very well put together course over all, I had fun playing it at the 2015 Full Blown Open.
