Pros: -Decent Baskets
-Signage/Map is good (see cons)
-Trees to work around
-Good variation on distance
-Upkeep is good
Cons: -Tee signs missing on #7 and #9
-#4, #5 and #9 unplayable during ball games (workaround of replaying #1, #2 and #3 a second time)
-Natural tees for most, loose gravel tee out of parking lot for #1 and #6
-Walking path in play on #2, way left on #3, tee right across on #4, on #6
-Baseball field in play on #5 (sort of #4 with a long drive right)
-Playground, road and parking in play on #9
-No elevation
Other Thoughts: Centennial Park houses an average DGC on the eastern edge of Boyden, IA. Decent signage is there for most holes (missing signage on #7 and #9) with mostly grass tees with a wood toe kick. #1 and #6 tee from the parking lot which is currently loose gravel topped and not very grabby. There is a walking path in play on may holes and #4, #5 and #9 are closed during baseball games. There is also a playground just right of the tee for #9. There are some choices on lines around the trees in the park for many holes. #3 is a boomer with the basket tucked in the tree line to the right. Replace the missing signage, upgrade to concrete tees, maybe re-imagine the 3 holes closed during games to up the rating for me. I enjoyed my round, an average park course with a few hazards. I would play again, if in the area.

Pros: +Nice Innova baskets
+Nice big course sign right away and good signage on the tees. Look at the big sign right away and take a photo of it. There are a few places where it can be hard to find the next hole or you see two at the same time.
+Some great hole layouts. 1-3 were a great start to the course. 1 has a protected green, 2 is a kind of tunnel shot, 3 is a very long hole with the basket tucked into the treeline.
+This course is situated in a very nice park that has lots of other things to do. Maintenance and cleanliness were great. Shelters, bathrooms, playground, splash pad, tennis courts, ball fields, walking path, etc.
Cons: -Holes 4,5,9 are not playable during baseball/softball field use. Hole 9 also plays right over the playground and parking lot/park street.
-No elevation change at all.
-Natural tees. I had to watch were I was stepping a few times to avoid a twisted ankle or worse.
-The course is kind of hard to follow. You often see another tee or basket that looks more logical than the one that you are actually supposed to go to. Use the map at the start. Example: hole 5 looks like the next hole after 1. Hole 6 is across the parking lot from the 5 basket and is hard to see.
-Besides the other safety issues, the walking path comes into play on 2 and 7.
-Hole 1 could have been an epic tunnel shot, a missed opportunity. Still a fun hole but could have been better.
-Hole 5 uses the baseball field fence as an obstacle. Not my favorite obstacle.
-Hole 8 needs a bit of trimming to provide any real line. Right now, you just have to throw low and hard as there are branches everywhere. At the same time you need to be conscious of the playground.
Other Thoughts: +There are a few good holes on this course and the park seems big enough to do a redesign and eliminate some of the other issues.
+This course isn't bad. Concrete tees and a re-design could bring it up to a 3. I wouldn't go out of my way to play here again but I'd stop by if I ended up in Boyden again. It is right between George and Sioux Center both geographically and in quality.
