Golfclub Herrensee 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 13, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

-The variety in shots was decent, all in all. Most holes require straight (RHBH) distance, but I found myself using a forehand from time to time. It is the use of elevation and distance that makes this course really fun and challenging to play. With the bunkers OB you need to be accurate.

-The flow was really good as there was no long walk between the holes, and #18 plays uphill to the clubhouse/hole #1.

-Water comes in play on a tiny lake and a small creek.

-Hole #8 was a lot of fun to play and is considered to be the signature hole with a downhill valley shot and its small creek.

-There was a putting-green with several basket where you can warm up.

-As one can expect, the course was maintained perfectly.
The baskets were high quality ones and in good condition.

-Discs are for sale/rental inside the clubhouse as well as snacks and beverages.

Cons:

-There is no specific course-map for disc golf. I found myself searching for the right basket quite a while on several holes and even played the wrong one once.
In addition to that there is no correct information about the length of each disc golf hole (just golf).

-The lack of obstacles was noticeable. Most holes just require a straight distance shot.
There are few holes where you need to navigate around something.

Tees are good for golf players and disc golfers who throw from a stance. You need to throw aside them if you need to run-up as the tees are short and sometimes placed on uneven ground.

-Pay to play (no real Con for me as I am willing to pay for a course that is maintained perfectly).

-You need to check the website for tournaments or events. The course might be blocked.

-There were other players (golfers). It seemed that they would take much longer for a hole than a disc golfer would but that is just my guess. The course is pointed towards beginners, therefore you might have to bring some time.

Other Thoughts:

This was the first time that I played on a golf course.
I was surprised of how well the layout (original Ball Golf) worked for Disc Golf as well.
It was definitely worth the ride and I would recommend this course to anybody who is in that area.
Beginners might enjoy this course as much as advanced players.
The fee of 10€ is for the whole day (i believe).

because its a golfcourse, you should always check if the course is restricted for tournaments

Other Thoughts:

- Bunkers are OB

One of the most beautiful courses in Austria, maybe Europe as well.
