Thanksgiving Day Excursion 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 22, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

SETTING: Multi use city park with large playground, baseball field, basketball courts, outdoor rodeo arena

SITE/TERRAIN:
Quality of Land Usage- 20/30 : Good use of space. 4 holes with tee pad to 1 basket. 7 Holes with tee pad to two permanent baskets positions.
Cleanliness- 10/10

COURSE DESIGN:

Variety/ Right Left / Elevation - 15/30 Decent elevation for city park course. Straight 10 , Left to Right 3 , Right to Left 5
Obstacles/Shot Shaping- 10/20: Hole one is tight 270 ft hole with OB on parking lot left and Creek right
Decision-making/Risk-Reward- 10/20. Good challenge hole 1, 6 with ob deep and short right. ,14. Challenging green.

COURSE EQUIPMENT:
Baskets- 30/30 Innova DISCCATCHER Pro 28
Signage- 10/15. Nice directory sign at the start of the course with rules. Basic signs on the course, but they give distance and hole location adequately..
Course Navigation / Flow - 20/30: okay with good starting map.An unusual set up with the 4 stand along holes and the other 7 holes with single shared tee pad and 2 permanent baskets. Small enough course that you can find your way easy enough. I completely missed hole 3 on the first tie round and played it o the back 9 loop.

COURSE AMENITIES:
Restrooms- 15/15
Drinking Water - 5/5
Parking - 5/5

COURSE MAINTENANCE:
Grass and Brush- 30/30 well maintained by the city.

FUN FACTOR: 20/50: I played this course while at my in-laws for Thanksgiving. Not a really challenging course, but the designer used the land about as well as well as could be accomplished.

Cons:

SITE/TERRAIN:
Scenic Beauty- 5/20

COURSE DESIGN:
Multiple Baskets/Tees: 0/30
Signature holes- 15/50 Hole 1 is fun with the tight OB and creek. Hole 9 and 18 play through the baseball fence and the road berm with matures trees that make the gap tight. Ideal fun FH or BH roller hole
Skill levels- 10/30. Hole 15 is 103 feet with 3 trees in between the tee pad and basket. Some distance involved.
Safety Issues- 5/20: Hole 1 could have issues if the park was busy with people parking right along the fairway. Also holes 7/16 and holes 17 playing directly through the next hole's teepad. Hole 8 and 17 play over or along volleyball court.

COURSE EQUIPMENT
Tee pads: 10/30: 5 ft by 8 ft. On the short side and could not start a normal 4 step X step on the tee pad.

COURSE AMENITIES:
Benches- 0/5
Trash Cans- 0/5 at the play ground but not around the course

Other Thoughts:

Overall the course gets 250/500 by my rating system. My initial impression was 2.25 to 2.5 after walking back to my car. I enjoyed playing the course while visiting. It's a course I would definitely take beginners and intermediate players to play. I will definitely take my kids and brother in laws to play this course in the future. Also, had several locals talk to me while I was playing and were interested in playing themselves. So hopefully more people in the area will get the disc golf bug, keeping improving the course, and developing more places to play in Western Kansas!
