Why even have a disc golf course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 4, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

There are 18 nice baskets.

The grass is mowed (you are playing on a ball golf course).

There are cold drinks in the pro shop.

Cons:

No marked tee area for most holes.

No tee signs.

No course map at the pro shop.

Staff didn't really know the course layout or where the tees were.

Boring. It seemed like every hole was just kind of the same boring hyzer tee shot. Then probably another hyzer to the green. There were a few holes that lended well to a forehand but after about 6 holes I was bored and wanted the round to be over.

OB was not well marked and I threw a disc in a pond that I didn't even realize was there until I walked 250 feet up the fairway.

Other Thoughts:

This was one of the most disappointing disc golf outings I have ever had. I wasn't expecting much but to say this was a disappointing experience would be an understatement.

There is no excuse for not marking tee areas and having tee signs or at least a map....especially when you are charging people to play the course.

As a good friend once wrote in a review from another course, "The best part of playing this course was knowing that I would never have to play it again".

Quality course in South Central Kansas 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 25, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Well maintained - always enjoyable playing on a conventional golf course.
Obstacles - for a central Kansas course it provides a number of water hazards, roughs and trees which makes you think about how to attack each hole. The Kansas wind also may provide a wildcard obstacle.
Variance in distance of holes - (237 ft - 830 ft) provides different challenges and opportunities.

Cons:

$$$ - most discgolfers play courses with the only cost being a potential lost disc and may be hesitant paying a fee.
No tee pads - The tee signage is above adequate and the grass tees are well maintained at this time so I can't say that this is currently a "con" but with increased usage and poor weather this could be a challenge.

Other Thoughts:

Honestly a well designed and very high quality disc golf course. A fair comparison would be the Emporia Municipal Golf Course (south of Emporia) that is played during the GBO. The course is well maintained and enjoyable to play. The variety in distance and the good mix of obstacles lets you test different parts of your game. The course may be too challenging for novice players and the wind can cause additional headaches.
There is some reservation on paying to play. I got over this by realizing that maintaining a golf course for a town of 600 tax payers is quite a challenge on its own and that paying $6 to $10 to support this small town and to promote disc golf is money well spent.

A Top-10 course in the area.
