Diamond Arrow Disc Golf Course Is Not A Diamond In The Rough! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 28, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

It's more like a course in the rough (as in rough shape). This is a Christian conference center where you can bring your group to this camp for a retreat. I wouldn't recommend bringing your group of beer guzzling disc golfing friends here for that big tournament weekend. One, you would probably be rejected and two, the golf is not worth the drive.

The lady I talked to has to get permission from someone else before allowing me to play. She informed me that two holes were probably unplayable and did give me a map which wasn't much help.

There doesn't seem to be any permanent tee pads. The baskets are a single chain homemade lot, some with a number. For # 1, I chose to tee off from the gazebo up a little higher. The basket sits down on the soccer field below. From then on I attempted to play a safari round playing from basket to basket. I played across the field to the # 2 which is tucked in behind a clump of scrubby trees/bushes. # 3 plays up the hill. I never found a # 4 basket. The 5 basket is back down the hill. # 6 is up the hill. # 7 basket is up and above the amphitheater. And then I was lost.

Cons:

Cheap single chain baskets.

Not really a course.

No signs.

No tee pads.

Other Thoughts:

This is the type of disc golf course that probably accomplishes just the opposite of what we want to see. That is, instead of providing a wonderful, first time experience playing disc golf and having folks wanting to play again, a course like this maybe frustrates and discourages people, quite possibly turning them off from wanting to play again.

Conference center course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 5, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

Course at a Christian Church Camp facility. Always great to mix worship with disc golf opportunity.

8 of the 9 baskets are present and numbered.

Course is challenging presenting long and short baskets and elevation changes.

Cons:

No designated tee pads. You need a map or guide to play course.

Course plays over parking area, so if cars are parked there, three baskets/holes are out of play (holes 3, 5 and 6). Holes 1 and 2 are on the fringe of the conference center's multi use grass field, so if other activities are taking place, these holes are not playable.

Baskets are single chain and have wide openings in the basket that your disc will fall through.

Other Thoughts:

Not quite sure if this course is open to the public or if you have to be part of a group staying at the conference center to play. Conference center does have RV hook ups and is close to the South Yuba River. I was told the RV spaces can be rented by the night.
