Carpenter Park is a very pretty park with a nice enough disc golf course. I wish the designers had tried to make a few of the holes longer, as this course is basically a par 2 course unless you're an absolute beginner. It can still be a fun putter round if you come with that in find.

There is a creek that would have been nice to incorporate as a water hazard. While some holes have a few tree hazards (hole 9 in particular), most are very open and very short. There's nothing forcing any shot shaping at all.

I'm really not a fan of the numbers being incorporated into the tees instead of on signs. It actually LOOKS really nice, but on these wide open courses with no obvious flow it just makes navigation that much harder... especially if there's snow on the ground, and it is northern Illinois.

As mentioned above there's a few walking path hazards, but given how open the course is, these are pretty easily avoidable. I did have to wait for several dog walkers during an otherwise short round, but it wasn't that big a deal.

Overall, this course is not worth going out of your way for, but it's playable if you're right by it. It won't challenge you or offer anything unique but it's a nice little park nonetheless.

Simple, easy, quick course. Great for midrange and putter course. Easy flow of course. Great for beginners due to no challenges.

Beautiful park, well marked tee pads, easy access with plenty of parking. Short, straight forward design.

Distance is lacking. Foot traffic from the park can slow down play, use caution around pedestrians. The surrounding park is bustling by mid-morning.

Fun for everyone, but plays more for beginners and kids. An experienced player can get through this course with a putter only.

The course plays around a very well maintained little park. I doubt that the course is every really busy as far as disc golfers. The course starts and ends near the same spot on the south end of the park. There are nice concrete tees on every hole. These also serve as the tee signs which is kinda cool. They have the hole number, par, directional arrow to the pin and distances imbedded in the pad itself. I've never seen this anywhere else and it's a cool feature. The baskets are brand new Mach 3's that are in fantastic shape and catch great. The flow of the course is very easy to follow as well. The course is permanent and free to play.

This is a really nice beginner course but will not be worth playing for experienced players unless you're a course bagger like myself. The longest hole is only around 175 feet. The walking trail winds throughout the park and seems pretty busy so just beware of pedestrians.

This course is not worth going out of your way to play. If you're in the area though, it only takes about 20 minutes to play a round. As I said earlier it's a great place for beginners or trying to get an ace (I got my 3rd of the year on hole 5).

Carpenter Park is a nice park that is kept up well. The section they used for disc golf is very small, so it makes the course very specifically a kid-friendly design.

Baskets are Mach 5's in really good condition. They are anchored very well and oriented with the number plates facing the tee (an often overlooked detail, necessary here since so many baskets can be seen from each tee.)

The tees are large with the tee sign set into the back of the tee.

Most of the holes are just open, but the area where 7/8/9 was had a few trees and there is a creek that could come into play on 5,6,7 & 9 (mostly 7 & 9.) Holes 1-5 have kind of a random "wandering around the park" vibe but once you get over to the creek there are better design elements to those holes. It has an pretty nice design given the limitations of the site.

A few years ago I stumbled upon Volunteer Park in Romeoville. It was so short and open that it was basically useless to anyone but small children, unathletic beginners and seniors. Carpenter Park is 450' shorter than Volunteer Park with almost as little challenge. It's seriously 9 long upshots.

Despite the short holes, the course manages to commit some safety boo-boo's. Holes 3 and 5 shoot across walking paths and hole 6 shoots into an area where a pedestrian bridge and a walking path come together.

The tee signs in the tees were a cool feature, but the land is flat and the baskets are scattered about in a mostly open area. Without a raised tee sign, you wander quite a bit wondering where the next tee is.

The course is on the South part of the course, with the tee for #1 at the very South end. The parking lot is in the north part of the course. You have to walk across the entire park to get to the tee for hole #1. It didn't bother me, it wasn't that far of a walk. It's going to bother somebody, though.

Carpenter Park is a niche design that would work well in an elementary school. Disc golfers with small children would enjoy hitting this park for some family frolf fun.

The problem is that for a rating, there is just nothing here. It was too short and open to be fun as a place for adult disc golfers to throw. Unless you have little kids or are taking a date to play their first round of disc golf, there would be zero reason for a disc golfer to play this course. Given the very small audience that will find a course like this attractive, I'm not sure it was worth the investment.

This course is a perfect course to get children involved in the sport. It could also be a fun course for first time players of all ages. Most holes around 150 feet, with the longer ones being around 175. For casual players looking to improve their game, it is an okay course for upshot practice. Mach III baskets with updated trays. Easy to follow layout.

This course is passable for even the most casual of disc golfers. These holes are SHORT. I would even say that it's not even worth the time to use for practice, as Randall Oaks is up the road a few miles.

This was not the course in the original park layout introduced to the public within the last few years. It was supposed to follow the perimeter of the entire property. However, this park can be busy, and the original layout would have caused plenty of problems between discers and pedestrians/vehicles. They wound up tucking the course in the south end 3-4 acres, where there is minimal pedestrian traffic. Don't get me wrong, this course is nothing but putter practice for anyone reading this review, but it IS a GREAT course for kids under 13 to have fun and improve their game.
