Nice tee signs on each hole, baskets are good discatcher ones.
Tee pads are a little short but good turf pads.
Course has good mix of length, fairly open allows you to test out new drivers and discs. Also good for beginners with as open as it is
For a 9 hole it has enough space to allow full drives.

You might have to park a ways away from hole 1 and the fence makes you walk all the way to the opening

Three par 4s shouldn't be par 4s as they're under 400 feet and wide open.
Hole 9 ends with you having to cross a couple fairways back to the parking area.

Overall a good 9 and worth checking out. The par 4s are fun to test the arm and different drivers.

Most the holes have wide fairways, so it's great for beginners who are learning how to throw a disc and figure out how they fly in certain situations. It's also a good opportunity to try new discs or different types of throws without the risk of it going out of sight and getting lost.

There aren't many obstacles but the designers did well with what they had to work with, creating fun holes with a little challenge here and there. Certain shots are better on certain holes, but overall you won't be punished if you can only throw a backhand.

There are only 9 holes, but since it's lightly wooded you can easily make up another 9 where you want by reusing previous baskets. There aren't many people disc golfing here so there's a very low risk of interfering with someone else's game if you decide to play your own custom holes.

The tee-pads are raised off the ground, making it difficult to do run-ups of any kind. Two of the pads (6 and 8) are facing a bit far to the left, so it may be best to just throw next to the pad rather than on it.

The course is open throughout the year, but during big events (such as graduation or music festivals) the overflow parking goes into the first two holes. If you plan on going around the beginning of June, you may have to skip to the 3rd hole. I personally find the 2nd hole to be one of the more challenging ones, so it's a bummer when it's blocked off.
One time the first hole was fenced off, but there's another entrance along the East fence (near the 4th hole) that grants access to the course. Don't be discouraged about seeing an event taking place on the first or second hole though, the back is always clear. Golfers don't disturb the events since most of the holes are away from the buildings, which means the course should never be closed completely. The only exceptions might be a cross country meet? However I've never seen any despite the baskets/pins being built on a cross country course.

Maintenance can be an issue at times. The first 4/5 holes are usually well mowed year-round except for under the trees (be wary of large branches as well, those never get taken care of). The back holes though aren't mowed as often, so losing a disc in tall grass might be an issue. Weeds clinging to your bag/shoes is also a common occurrence, especially the ones that are like little needles waiting to get into your socks.

A few people I've seen at the course have mentioned that another 9 holes may be added in the future, but I haven't been able to find any information to confirm or deny this.

There aren't any mando's, but I can see making up a few for fun to increase the challenge of the course.

If another 9 holes were added, along with better maintenance I would consider giving this course a 3.5 scoring.

Located on the site of PLU's old golf course, this little 9 hole course plays at a recreational level and with three easy to birdie or eagle, par 4's, shooting well under par should be the norm here. The course starts right behind the Columbia Center and just across the street from the school's old Memorial Gym. This is a smoke free campus and a No Smoking Sign is prominently displayed near the #1 tee box.

Parking is an issue here. I showed up today after 3 pm on a Monday afternoon figuring that there would be spots along the fence line where parking is free. Wrong, I was lucky to find one available spot.

Being on an old golf course, the course is mostly open although the course designers did use the mature Douglas Fir trees for obstacles as much as possible. On # 2, the basket is 40' behind a large fir. # 4 is a short, easy 160' Ace run throwing around a smaller tree of some kind. The # 5 basket sits between two large Doug Fir trees while # 6 has a single large fir partially shielding the basket. # 7's basket is strategically placed with two trees in front. # 8's basket is slightly around the left of a large grove of mature trees and a large fir sits on the right side of the # 9 fairway. There is very little elevation to contend with. # 7 is the only hole with any elevation and there you just have to throw over a small rise.

The tee pads are the course's biggest problem (see Cons). The signs are somewhat old school fiberglass types although these are colored and give you all the information you need including the easy to beat Pars. The baskets are Discatchers with the yellow rims which show well here.

Signature hole??? I liked a couple. # 4, the short (160') hyser around a smallish tree is an Ace possibility. I think # 7 which is a 256' shot over a small rise and between two trees is fun and interesting.

The tee pads are poor. They're too short for a decent run-up and raised a few inches. On some holes, I had to kinda hop up on the pad during my run-up. Some natural tees with a front board have been added on a few holes since I first played here about six months ago. And then on some holes, the front board has just been placed in front of the raised box.

The # 8 tee box is about 20 degrees off course so you kind of have to throw across the tee pad.

Listed par 4's are easily attainable and many players will have eagle opportunities such as # 8's 329' Par 4 with just a little hyser needed.

Parking is a problem during the school year.

I don't think the baskets are ever moved but # 5 would have some excellent alternate locations in and around the large fir trees surrounding it.

Only 9 holes and a semi-rec course.

I was told there is talk of adding another nine although one player told me that they are waiting for some trees to grow bigger. WTF, that could be 10 years or more. How about just adding the holes now and possibly moving a basket or two later in the future. There is plenty of room here.

In spite of the tee box problems, I like this little course and am awarding it a possibly, inflated rating of 2.5. Maybe, I'm already counting on the back nine being added and improved tee boxes.

This course plays on part of PLU's campus, on its cross country course. Its a pretty fun, quick play through fields and trees, with some beautiful, huge evergreens dispersed here and there. Not enough to create really tight fairways, but very aesthetically pleasing.
Around hole 5 or 6, you start to get some distance holes where you can air it out, a little. Hole 6 is a 400ft hole, with the basket tucked behind one of the aforementioned evergreens.
What little elevation is here, is utilized on hole 7, where you throw upwards, and over a small hill.
There is quite a bit more land to possibly utilize here, hopefully they'll extend it to 18 holes.

A few of the 1st holes are fairly short, with simple rhbh heizer layouts. #2 is very short, but you have to find your way around/under? a VERY large tree.
Not an overly challenging course, but definitely not a simple, boring, 9-holer, like some I've seen.

Its obvious that the designer was good at using what obstacles are there to create some fun holes and shot-shaping. While it was a quick play, and a few short holes were a little mundane, I found myself wishing there were another 9 here. I bet the students and locals here make some pretty interesting safari holes,too! I'd definitely play here again and its a GREAT place to bring a beginner. Not too hard, but with enough challenge & fun for more experienced players.
* Someone had told me this course, being private, is only playable after school hours, or on weekends. This is NOT the case! If you go to Campus Safety (like all the posted signs on campus say to do), they will give u a parking pass for the lots, or you can just street park without pass. You might have to walk a little if you don't use a lot, though.
I asked when the course was available to play, and a very helpful young co-ed told me it was ok at any time, but you need passes for the lots. As I was leaving, I heard her and the security guy say,"wow, no one has ever asked before!" HAHA
So, to anyone local who hasn't played this course because of it's "private" designation, GET OUT THERE. Its quite a fun little play. VK will hopefully sum it up better in the near future.
-Also, you don't need permission from Campus Safety to play, only for a parking pass, if you choose to park in lot.
