This Park is as big as the rest of town

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 24, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

+Nice baskets, all in good shape and catching well.
+Nice concrete tees
+Well done, full color signage. Never any doubt about where to throw or go next. Navigation is easy here.
+Park is very well maintained and offers other recreation and amenities. I was impressed by the $$$ put into building and maintaining this park. Breda is a pretty small town.
+Course stays far enough away from other activities. The walking path does come close on a few holes but it is open enough to see when you can and can't throw.
+Reasonable variety of distances in a small town park 9 holer.
+Won't lose a disc here.
+A few ace possibilities including a few holes under 200'.
+Good learning place for beginners and kids before they head off to Jefferson or Carroll and beyond to find the more challenging 18 holers.

Cons:

-Tees were a little short on some of the longer holes. Not too big of a deal as they seemed pretty level with the ground.
-Not enough trees to force any lines
-Pretty flat. The light elevation changes weren't enough to change anything.

Other Thoughts:

+Overall, Breda did a solid job with designing this course with what they had to work with. I can't think of many changes that I would make beyond planting more trees for big changes way down the road.
+This course is worth a stop. If you have reasonable expectations, it won't anger you or wow you. Just a solid 9 hole in a nice small town. Go for some aces.
+This place has a pool, playgrounds, shelter, Sauk Rail Trail, walking path, basketball court, baseball fields, horseshoes, etc.

Decent Park Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 24, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Decent Baskets
-Concrete Tees (See cons)
-Good Signage
-Fair amount of trees make for a few line choices
-Upkeep of area is good
-Stays away from other activities (mostly)

Cons:

-Tee pads a little short
-Minimal elevation
-Water could come in play on #3 and #7 in wet times
-Gravel road in play on #2 and #3
-Walking path in play on #5
-Distance on #9 tee sign seems a little long
-No benches / trashcans

Other Thoughts:

Breda DGC plays in a nice sized city park on the north end of Breda, IA. The park contains the local pool, a baseball field, softball field, 2 sand volleyball courts and basketball court, but the disc golf stay away from all of these. Decent signage at concrete tees lead to nice baskets. Little elevation to speak of and a moderate amount of trees make the lines open, with a few decisions to make. There is a drainage ditch that cuts through the middle of the course crossing the lines for #3 and #7, but was dry as I played. A walking path is in play on either location for #5, but other than a couple of guys mowing, I had the place to myself. Signage shows alternate pin locations of #3 and #5. Distance on the #9 tee sign seemed a bit long, but I took my birdie and moved on. Park was in good condition and I enjoyed my round here. I would put this as a good park style course, better than many I've found in these small Iowa towns. Not a destination, but a nice course off the beaten path, worth a throw. I would play again if in the area.
