Bardu's Bag 2018

I just took the plunge and ordered 8 more GStar Sidewinders. The Factory said that whats out there is the last of the run.

I also came to the realization that while I prefer the flight of the Buzzz, I prefer the grip of a Roc and its bead.

Your signature says: ``Wizard, Harp, Sidewinder, ...''. Wasn't it ``Wizard, Roc, ...'' previously? Are you dropping midranges? Please explain.

No, that's just for simplicity. They are in there, just relegated to utility duties. I don't find myself throwing them. I tend to power a Sidewinder down to cover what I would otherwise use mids for. Most of the time, I step up to the teepad planning on using Wizard, Sidewinder, Valk, or Firebird.

I got to play a bit earlier in the week. I putted really well. I threw the Roc3 a bunch and didn't throw the Buzzz at all. I think I'm gonna try playing with just Rocs again. Earlier in the year, I felt I needed the Destroyer on windy days, but I'm starting to think at my arm speed there isn't anything it adds to my bag. My friend told me it will be back in the bag in six months time. We'll see. :D

First snow of the year today. I got to play a bunch yesterday though and it was beautiful. I put my Glow Wizards in as my main putters just to get them a little work. My putting was the hottest part of my game all day. I took the Buzzz out. I threw my Rocs quite a bit with pretty good results. I threw every disc in my bag and they all had their moments. I tossed a couple TeeBirds in as well.

Yesterday was perfect fall weather and I tried a few new courses. I hit an ace in the afternoon with my 2018 Sexton Firebird on a forehand.

More fall rounds. A pretty good reflection of what I've been throwing all year.

I still haven't decided on the Buzzz. The DX Roc needs more work, I need it to be my US midrange.

I'm just curious on what your distances are.

I'm just curious on what your distances are.

Good question! I've thrown 350 a couple times on flat ground and I've parked a 388 ft downhill a couple times this year. I feel like I'm throwing further than ever before.

Wizards: 260/280
Rocs: 280/300
Sidewinders: 315/330
Firebirds: (FH): 260/280

I can stretch the Wraith further than the Sidewinder.

I can throw a mid 300 in an open field, but it won't be hovering in the near the basket at that distance like the Sidewinder would, it will be sliding on the ground. And I can throw the Sidewinder at 80% instead of having to throw a mid at 90 or 100. I rarely throw 100%, I love powering down.

I never come around here anymore, only came to see what people were saying about the McBeth switch. I figured I'd poke around a little and was pleasantly surprised to see you're still at it! We're also (still?) throwing about the same things around the same distances. I suspect most average, experienced players are at those same distances and I'm not really sure why people keep chasing the "next awesome disc". I guess boredom? I very, very rarely lose anything (maybe one disc a year at most) and try something new at about the same rate.

Actually, looking back at my post history, it looks like i've only added Harps and a Sidewinder over the past couple years.

2 Wizard
2 Ridge
2 Harp (one hard, one VIP)
2 Roc3 (both star)
4 Teebird (two GStar, one star, one champ)
1 roadrunner (champ)
1 sidewinder (star)
2 Escape (Lucid)
2 Firebird (1 star, 1 Sexton)

Thanks for the reply, good to hear from you! Your bag looks great! I swapped bags with a buddy for a round this summer and I was really digging his Ridge. Kinda wish I'd grabbed a few before they went OOP. Cheers!

I played 57 holes yesterday. It was breezy but I got to throw my full bag. Happy Thanksgiving!

I brought bag as I did on Thanksgiving, close to the setup that I had in May/June.. But with the temps in the high 30s, the bag I actually ended up throwing looked more like this:

167 4x Star Destroyer
175 2018 Sexton Firebird
168 GStar Sidewinder
176 2x Champ Roc3
175 Glow Wizard (2)

This is similar to what I was throwing last winter. The 2018 Sexton was hot, I like its stability right now. It has taken over as my main thrower and I may take the 2015 out of the bag.

I've been playing the last couple weeks in 20s and snow. The ground is only thinly covered, so the conditions have been really nice for December. The ground is frozen and I'm throwing almost 100% standstills. I use the weather as a chance to experiment. I haven't really changed the bag, but I've adjusted it for winter. It's like the smaller bag I posted earlier, I'm throwing less discs.

I really enjoy the stability of the Thunderbird right now.

I got a few new FAF Champ Firebirds. They are new runs, pearly, max weight. I put one in the bag because I need an overstable Firebird again. It throws very overstable as you can imagine, kind of like the old flat Champ Glow Firebird I used to have.
