[Discraft] Comet love?

Am I the only one who's JB Z FLX isn't flying like others have said theirs flies like? Mines not any beefier than a typical Z Comet, and I have a natural Hyzer release.

Also if anyone has any of the older blend ESP Comets (doesn't have to be LE, just the pre-2018 stuff) I'd be down to acquire a few more as I only have my current LE that I bag, and none of the new blend ESPs (even the flat ones) fly like that one does. It's nice and predictable, it flips up from my natural release, but doesn't flip over (like some of the new ESPs do), and it does the beautiful straight flight that I want out of my Comet.

PS I got massively lucky at PIAS a few weeks ago and I found an 8.5+/10 white Elite-X, and it's pretty close to my LE ESP (and I'd be down to acquire some more of these or regular X Comets as well), but it dries off much better (and the LE dries off better than the new ESP blend does, which is why I want more since I typically play in wet/dew conditions, at least in tournaments).

I've got an Elite X one I found on a course, that I'm never going to throw. A few tourney pro ones, too, if you're looking for the old, flippy stuff...

I'm kind of Comet /Uplink. I keep a neutral stable comet in the bag, uplink for less stable. No other mids. Some pretty stable putters though, haha 5 putters and some easy to throw lower 7 speed fairways.. well a rhythm x 3 haha. And a 155 tesla.

Mostly. My mid line-up is X Comet, Z Comet, Z Buzzz, Ti Wasp and Cryztal FLX Drone. One of the Comets comes out 20 times versus any of the other's one time.

Do y'all throw the Comet as your only mid slot? Or at least for most of the slots besides OS utility?
100% Comets.

Light weight LE ESP is my go to for uphill and turnovers
Light weight old dome Z for most shots just because it's less rare and more durable
Icon series ESP Swirl for flat, straight shots with a right drift
New dome ESP that I'm trying to beat in to replace the LE ESP one eventually
Another new dome ESP to cycle with that one
Z Swirl for when I really need to put a crap ton of power into the shot
And then depending on the weather and ground visibility (ie- leaves on the ground) either a new dome Z or a JB Z FLX (which has the old dome shape) that are consistently overstable by Comet standards (HSS of a Buzzz, fade of a Wasp)

And I cycle in various other ones from my Comet shelves (plural), as the course and conditions dictate

Keeping up lightly with this thread recently, and not digging through the depths of posts, I could have guessed you threw 100% Comets, Skamanda haha

Speaking of not digging through the depths, what do you mean by new dome? Was there a run of Comets with different dome than the old ones?

Nothing but, for 18 years 🤘😝
That's seriously impressive actually. I've been playing for almost 15 years and there are only a couple discs I still bag/have from the beginning. I'm a sucker for trying new plastic though, which is fun, but a skill and financial downfall for me. But such is this game

Oh I've thrown tons of other molds too, but the Comet is such a good fit, that they've mostly been for other slots, since I found them. Putters, drivers, and such.

Plus, I went through MRVs, Buzzes, Wasps, Drones, Rocs, and Squalls before finding the Comet. Any mid since though has only been from curiosity, so I can offer people suggestions when they don't like the way the Comet feels

I've been Drone/Buzzz for so many years, plus another mid or two. Comet has been my workhorse for a few years now but I'll always have a Buzzz in my bag...there's certain shots it just does better for me. Granted, I've only thrown it a few times in my past dozen rounds.

Personally I could just Buzzz**/Comet but no I like a slower overstable mold between a Firebird and Berg. Thrown smooth Comets have plenty stability presuming you're working WITH the wind if any (hyzers and turnovers alike).

They're more than easy enough for late turning hyzerflips or any type of flat/anhyzer with power.

I found an uninked Star Rock a few months back and I've been throwing it on second shots/carrying just to test. Don't consider it part of my bag.

Eh...it's like a Mana/Meteor/Sol. One trick pony.
Well it's not a comet nor the many stabilities thereof.. its a nice hyzerflip or turnover disc for me, just enough stabiluty for a touch of late fade. The comet is my straight, straight motherfucking straight disc or a stable one. I love my Comets but the uplink does that understable or hyzer to straight role well. Actually what it does really well is a straight 75% flight to flip but I digress.

I loved the esp meteor for awhile, sol wasnt half bad, but they were too flippy. Once you activated the turn it had no chance of coming back, same with the svea.. kind of... it's a goofy straight little s flyer until it isn't. In a way too forgiving.

Cough cough

Uplink.

Haha
For a few years when I lived in Michigan, I threw all gyro. Right around when the Envy and Proxy were first released. In the past few years, I've been a little less interested in throwing MVP. The plastic feels great, but I've shifted more to Innova and Discraft.

I'm considering having a mid set up for when I inevitably feel like trying something new. Thinking about a Quake/Buzzz/Comet combo. I go between mold minimizing (Roc cycling) and throw what you like, so I figured this is the best of both worlds. Plus, I like the old school Innova vs. Discraft rivalry, so I can throw a set up from each family.
