[Discmania] Discmania Thread (Part II)

So can anyone tell me if Neo beats in quicker than C or S-line?
Maybe faster than C-Line, but not really S-Line; it's pretty comparable. If I'm not mistaken, Neo is basically Latitude's Opto plastic, if that helps (and if I'm wrong, someone please correct me). C-Line plastic is unique to DM and not something the rest of HoD uses to my knowledge.

DM's S-Line feels very similar/exactly the same as Latitude's (Grand) Royal plastic. It sure beats in very similarly, and the way the dye permeates the plastic on swirly models is strikingly similar (this could be part of manufacturing process, too, since DM uses *ahem* old Latitude machinery). Then again, that type of plastic across manufacturers feels pretty much the same.

Thanks, I knew it was similar to Opto but I wasn't sure if it was the same. I saw some Neo PDs and that's what had me curious, but I'll just stick with I-Blend Romans for a beat in PD flight.

I picked up a few, first time trying a beaded putter since…. The judge that came in a starter pack. That exclusive shelf club stamp is clean. Edit - image finally attached.
Let us know how you like them. Are they the regular P2 molds with a bead? The Gannon quote on the product page makes it seem like there were some tweaks to the overall mold, but I might be reading something into it

Beaded, lower profile from my understanding, and less glide compared to the P2.

I'll have to check it out when the production runs show up at my local shop. The lower profile is interesting since that's one reason I never cared for the P2 (baby hands and all). I just loaded up on P1xs, so I doubt I'll be making a switch, anyway

Definitely some of last year's 'Stone' box releases coming out to dealers now. EO fundraiser discs could be just a couple months past the tournament trying to get them to dealers for distribution & cheaper shipping. With the recent putter releases (P1x, P2x) plus the alternate Halloween stamped Tour discs they just released I'm guessing DM is gearing up for a mystery box season from now till end of November.

Part of the problem with these LE/fundraiser/Tour series discs is they take away from the stock runs which end up sitting on shelves for a while. A lot of the desired old DM runs were just early stock runs that also maybe had some tournament stamps put on them (P2s/FDs/PDs) at affordable prices.

Picked up a couple of these last week: Special Edition Golden Swirl S-Line CD1 (10 Year Anniversary)

First, much better looking in person than in the pics. Looks like they're using up the gold S-Line plastic from the FD3s earlier this year. They fly much more like the Zeta's Moon than the regular S-Line stock runs (that is a tick or two more understable). I'm probably going to stock up, since I'm a sucker for pretty discs slightly understable CD1s

I got the P2X in! No shoulder at all (P2, P1), even no shoulder compared to the Link 😮

Plastic is amazing - it's glossy and shiny like s-line BUT more grippy than any d-line I've ever felt. Flight is very similar to a fresh Link, or beat-in P2.

Picture comparison P2X left vs a P2 or a Link on the right. The shoulder differences are obvious in-hand even if they're not showing in a pic.

I held a P2x the other day and was surprised how nice it felt in the hand. It didn't feel as cavernously deep like the standard P2 does to me. Still a little too deep for my short fingers

Love that stamp, too!

Oh the stamp is perfect! I wasn't a fan of the bigger stamp, so this option was epic. What do you putt with? This P2X feels way shallower than a P2, and with flat top, even shallower than the Link to me.

P1x and before that the Flex 1 Rainmaker. Maybe too deep isn't quite right, but I like the larger bevel on the P1x and Rainmaker. Ideally, I'd have a flex 1 P1x with the slight puddle top the Flex 1 Rainmaker has

Makes sense. I was putting Rainmakers (before that P2) and these P2X are on the shallower end of putters IME, and I have a sense they'll go puddle top like the Rainmakers because there is zero dome. I haven't thrown P1 or P1X.

I think the shoulder is a huge part of why putters feel deep or not. While I putt with the P1x, I won't readily want to drive with it, because it feels a little too deep to get a good enough grip for a drive. OTOH, my main throwing putter is the P3x. It's not significantly different than than the P1x in absolute depth, but there's much less shoulder, so it doesn't feel deep.

The Westside Maiden and the old Champ Classic Roc are also good examples of nominal putter depth but no shoulder; good throwing putters both, IMO
