Yes ;)

Your friend is exactly right. More precisely, I use the CD1 for long(ish), hyzer flip straight shots; turnovers; and flex shots. If there's a shot where I'm not entirely sure what to throw, I reach for the CD1 (wind considering). Super workable; one of my all-time favorite discs

I typically throw my MD5s, FD3s, Cloudbreakers, and PD2s for FH shots. I'll occasionally throw my CD1s or DD3s, too, but due to some shoulder issues, it's more comfortable and safe to throw the force over than a flip-up.
Recently got the MD5 as well and kicked out the Zone for now as I still have a pig for slower approach duties. The Pig has the added benefit that it goes really far and really straight on full power drives, landing just slightly in front of my Roc3s. Ideally my bag would have one majorly OS disc on both the mid/putt slot and the driver slot. For now the MD5 sits on that spot, while a champ FB takes it for my drivers. Both rarely come out of the bag, but when they do, they are sorely needed. On some tournament we had slight hurricane winds (not sure if there is a word for Orkan in english) and the FB went straight for the first time in its life.

On both slots I would then ideally fill various straight slots with the same mold with Roc3s for mids and Teebirds or PDs for drivers. Then I would add an understable mold with Mako3s for mids and in this case FDs for fairway drivers. I kinda like having my understable discs on the lower speed side as that makes it easier to get them into turn if they need to be thrown on shorter holes and I can still power them up with more hyzer for longer ones.

Good. If you have any impression that in today's world disc golf manufacturers have iffy QC, the old days were wiiiiiild.
I remember that one PD thread where people would select theirs like fine wines with specific years, colors, weights and so on. When deciding between Wraiths and Destroyers as my distance driver I looked at all the different Destroyers my local shop had (it really is more of a small warehouse and one of the very few physical shops for discs there are in germany) and just decided to not deal with that bullshit.

My buddy was in the same place. He didn't like the CD1 when he first started throwing DM, because it was too long for what he wanted. He then threw a C-Line for whatever reason, and texted me to see if had any S-Lines. I gave him a couple of Zeta's Moons and he throws the shit out of them now. I think, for me, the Essence didn't quite have enough fight back. I was looking for Champ Leopard replacement: a little turn, a little fight back. At first I was a little apprehensive of the 9 speed, but the Zeta's Moon and 10th Anniversary are sooooo workable. The C-line and production S-lines are meathooks for some reason
I was told by a D-maniac that the C-line glow CD1 from years ago was the money run. Apparently they were pretty pricey as well. Tried a domey S-line a long time ago and hated it, never revisited it.
