Hello my name is Brad I am 42 I have had 3 back surgeries which resulted in 10 screws, 8 rods and 2 cages from S2/L2. I've had both hips fully replaced. Does anyone have any input or advice!
 
Wow, that sounds pretty intense!
I give you a lot of credit just for getting out there and playing. All I can say is:
1) Listen to your body.
2) Listen to your healthcare professionals.

Don't over due it, know your limitations.

Throw lighter discs and slow down your walk up.

I would recommend getting lessons from someone like Scott Stokely (his 6 month online course helped me a lot) so that you are using the correct form as to not reinjure yourself or give yourself new injuries.

Depends on who your buddy is, I'm not sure I would listen to many of mine. ;)

You have had some major back surgeries. My wife has had some of the same type and I have an understanding what that amounts to. We all have to set our limitations and stay within them. My main limiters are my age and I've also had a knee replacement. I love the sport and get enjoyment out of it no matter how well I can play it. Just enjoy yourself and don't over do it.
 
Thanks to everyone I greatly appreciate your kindness! I have a slow few step walk up approach and I also use a one step throw!
I think I tend to twist my wrist on release because the disc ALWAYS goes to the left! No matter what I throw. Not every throw, I do try to correct this or figure out my throw and can get it pretty straight! When I was younger my gym teacher said I twist my wrist when bowling, not sure if this followed me into adult hood and disc golfing??

Disc golf is somewhat maddening in that it can be a lot of things. I've had a bunch of injuries (back surgery, torn rotator cuff, need both knees replaced, arthritis in my hands) and I'm throwing worse now than when I started. I've been really concentrating on trying to hold onto the disc (arthritis makes it hard to do) and in the process of doing that I started dipping my shoulder and throwing hyzers. The whole point was that the disc was slipping out of my hands and I was throwing all hyzers…the error is different, the result is the same. It can drive you crazy sometimes.
