Looking at the many BAD rollaways on hole 14 at worlds. . i just thought "Does the putter HAS to be round" ?

Has to be PDGA approved, that is all. There was a new Turbo putter at the Northeast expo with finger grooves on the sides. I don't know if it is PDGA approved. Six sided discs had one in his latest YouTube video.

It's interesting to me that people blame the equipment they use but not the mindset or approach to putting or upshots. You can't guarantee that the disc won't roll away but the angle on which the disc hits the ground (during an approach) can limit the chances of the disc rolling away. On putts sometimes you have to bite the bullet and lay up when you're 30+ feet away and on a hill or just be alright with whatever happens to the disc after you miss. To me this is part of course management, risk/reward, playing smart, when to know to be aggressive and when to know to be cautious. Determining probability and making the best decision. Most people are bad at this or don't even know it exists and just throw hissy fits.

It sounds like you're talking about the Quest/AT Turbo Putt. I think that disc was briefly approved by pdga, but it was later rescinded. That was more than 10 years ago though.

Nailed it.

yea, the PDGA made the Turbo Putt illegal because it was not round. I forget the exact standards but I don't think they should have done it. Those were cool discs. I might still have one in a box somewhere, I just can't remember.

I grip one of those last year, an odd disc that put.a smile on my face. An owner of a local PIAS has hundreds of collectable disc, I make a monthly visit. I don't remember seeing it last week, likely sold.

They make new runs of the OG Turbo Putt and the Turbo Putt II (has the grip on the bottom, but no scalloped rim)
