First Diamond Trusted Reviewer!

The earth took the earth millions of years to form diamonds. CZ's want to be diamonds in just a few years.

*sigh*
Lousy mortality!!!

Where are the alchemists when you need them? Maybe the apothecary would know.

You're just saying words at this point, chunk.

I just thought he was fresh off a DnD game.

Dude, were you just in Lawrence? I'm slumming in Manhattan and need to take a road trip.
I was in August! I taught band camp for 5 days and had an extra few hours the day I drove over so I bagged a couple courses real quick. I didn't bother reaching out to anyone because I wasn't sure that was going to even work out with timing or the weather.

It's great to see an @Three Putt sighting.

One of my favorite reviewers on here, and just all around dudes on the site.

It's a shame I don't throw Comets or watch baseball or I'd have seen and read more of his posts. My wife flicks ESP Comets annoyingly accurately now and I'm just going to blame that on him just because I can.

:p

Thanks for the kind words. I guess I can vent here a little; I may have met my match in rheumatoid arthritis. I actually got the diagnosis a few years ago because I got a big bead Omega AP and the Pro Plastic wasn't bothering me. I'm a picky bitch about putter plastic so I knew that was wrong! It's developed to the point where I can't really grip a disc; no grip, no rip, no aim. I have to pretend my second shot was my drive when I'm thinking about reviews. It also hit my knees, so it's hard to walk a course anymore. I'm bad AND slow, basically the poster child for the guy no one wants to throw with. It was OK when I was still someplace where I had disc golf buddies, but I moved. Nobody here gives a crap that I've been around the sport for 30 years, they just know they don't want to be on a card with me. I don't blame them, I'm not super excited to watch me throw, either. So I'm just throwing solo rounds. It's easy to skip golf when you are just going to throw alone; today was beautiful for golf but my old beagle fell asleep in my lap and I let her sleep and didn't go.

tl;dr: RA sucks.

I also can't talk about how anything flies anymore; I can't throw anything up to speed and I'd end up sounding like that SD86 guy a few years ago who talked about discs all day and was wrong every time he typed.

It also kinda sucks that I could course bagging like crazy if I felt better, it's all brand-new courses to me. It's going to be more of a slow burn of a review every now and then. I'll keep at it. I own too many golf discs to quit.

So I'm alive and well and anyone stuck on the infamous I-70 KC to Denver road trip from Hell can give me a holler; just plan extra time for a round.

Those are some blasts from the past. JJTWInnova was a beast for awhile when he was in high school. I remember him talking about having his parents taking him on road trips to bag courses. Once he went off to college, it appears he's found other interests besides disc golf.
Appreciate the shout. Still playing, just lost the passion for reviewing. Need to update my courses played list on here, I'm approaching #300.

So I guess you ended up being a Bearcat?

Those are the guys! My junior year I made the A Team, but these guys keep getting better and younger lol. Was the president of the team my last two years which allowed me to do a lot of the planning and decision making for the team. Took me to some cool courses and events I otherwise wouldn't have had the chance to play.

Hey, I just joined a new club!

I can't figure out how to see how anyone is doing. Has danhyzer made it yet?

It's nice to be able to see unique voters now. I know when I was getting close to 1,000 (I don't think it was + your thumbs down then) I had no idea if I had the unique votes or not. I have 334, but I can't tell you a thing about when I passed 250. I have no clue.

Denny is now down to only needing 40 votes.
Texconsinite now only needs 66 votes.

It would only take a handful of people reading some of their old reviews to hit the 1K mark.

Here's to 2024. First year of retirement has been great:

Started by reaching Diamond, and then made 5 Carat (5000 upvotes) in November.

Kept plugging away at day trips to new courses. Reached 478 total courses on uDisc (short of my 500 goal, mostly because they're getting pretty far for daytrips...).

Wrote 67 reviews (42 new, plus 27 revised/updated). I made an effort to replay courses so I could clean up my earliest reviews.

Edited every review down to 450 character limit to post a shortened version on uDisc.

Added 21 new courses and 500+ photos to DGCR.

Recorded 145 rounds on uDisc, finished the year with a streak of 68 consecutive weeks played.

Improved scoring by more than half a stroke over par (down from +3.6 to +3.0 over 145 rounds played).

DGCR #1 Top Bagger in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut.
#18 in NY, #25 in DE and #30 in MD.

...and great things expected for 2025 (will this be the year I finally develop a reliable sidearm? Learn to putt better than 1-for-8 from deep C1?)

Thanks to my fellow Diamonds for welcoming me.

Thanks everybody for making this a good place to share information about our sport.

Happy New Year!

-Hugh
