Just joined today, and getting back into Frisbee golf.
I play at the mighty Hoover Dam Recreation Park located in Westerville Ohio.
The Frisbee golf course that makes most men drool...
I am loaded with late 80's disks...
(1) Innova Whippet Fairway Driver (170G): A very over-stable flyer used for long hooking shots.
Stable into a headwind. Suitable for professional players.
Best Choice for:
Windy days
Spike hyzers
Flex shots
(1) Innova Viper Fairway Driver (172G)
(1) Innova Viper Fairway Driver (187G): A very stable to overstable disc. Reliable in all wind conditions.
Becomes a more versatile flyer as it wears.
Best Choice for:
Flex shots
Spike hyzers
Headwind shots
(1) Innova-Champion Barracuda Mid-Range Disk (178G): The Barracuda is an understable large diameter
Mid-Range disc that offers great control. The Barracuda was originally released in the early 90's
and is back in Champion plastic. The flight characteristics of the Barracuda allow users to easily
shape any line one might need.
It is a wide disc like the Scorpion, but it is a "low ceiling headwind driver"
It is a slightly more overstable Python.
(1) Innova Roc Mid-Range Disk (180G): The number one professional mid-range disc.
It is very reliable at the high speeds that pros throw.
It ages slowly, becoming an excellent slow turning disc as it wears.
Best Choice for:
Experienced players utility disc
Hyzer shots
Anhyzer shots
(1) Innova Stingray Mid-Range Disk (173G): Our best mid-range disc for right turning shots.
Excellent glide and flight pattern help stretch out shots for newer players.
It is one of our most popular roller discs.
Best Choice for:
Right turning shots (RHBH)
Medium to long range roller
Turnover shots
(1) Innova Shark Mid-Range Disk (172G): The best all around golf disc.
A very accurate disc for drives and approach shots, you can even putt with it.
Excellent for beginners in lighter weights.
Best Choice for:
Stable straight shots
Hyzer shots
Sidearm mid-range shots
(1) Discraft Vortex Mid-Range Disk (176G): The Vortex was the first Discraft version of a Roc.
One from '90 Worlds would be a very early run of them, so yours will be the old Pro Dish Competition
plastic. Later the disc was switched to Tournament Pro plastic.
The Competition plastic ones were better than the Tourney Pro versions.
The Tourney Pro ones were domey and flippy, the Competition plastic was a bit flatter and more stable.
(1) Discraft Marauder Driver Disk (179G): The Marauder is a very stable long distance driver.
It goes far and is extremely predictable. The Marauder is especially good in windy conditions.
An excellent choice for beginners and pros.
A good headwind driver. Into the wind, at high speed, it would fly straight and fade left a little
at the end. Downwind or no wind, it would curve right at high speed, then loop back through an
S-curve at the end, basically resulting in a straight flight. However, if thrown with the nose
and outside edge up, it would predictably curve right then straighten out and fall as it began
the S-curve back to the left, resulting in a flight path ending well to the right of the direction
it was released, but not much roll after impact. I found it would do the same thing to the left
if thrown sidearm. I relied on this disk for ANY dog-leg holes or mandatories that forced you down
a crooked fairway.
(1) Innova Hammer Putt and Approach Disk (178G): The Classic hammer is a driver oriented Putt and
Approach disc. The Hammer offers a controllable stable/understable flight path.
(1) Innova Aviar Putt and Approach Disk (176G): Aviar Putt & Approach is the number one putter in disc golf.
Having won more World Championships than all other putters combined. Aviar is our most popular disc.
Best Choice for:
Go to putter
Short to medium drives
(1) Innova Aviar Putt and Approach Disk (174G): The XD has a low profile grip which is secure but easy to release.
It is the most driver-like putter we have and is useful for drives, approaches and putts.
Best Choice for:
Wooded approaches
Short to medium rollers
Beginners
(1) Innova Birdie Putt and Approach Disk (173G): Birdie is our best “go-for” disc and an excellent approach disc.
It is a slow, straight flyer with a sure Thumtrac® grip that makes it easy to go for it without worry.
The Birdie is a slow, straight flyer with our Thumtrac® grip for a sure release.
It has great chain catching ability.
Great for approach shots, as it flies straight and slow start to finish.
It is one of our best “go for” discs as it doesn’t go far past the basket on misses, and stays put when it hits the ground.
A good disc for those players making the conversion from flat edged disc sports: Catch, Ultimate, Freestyle, etc.
Best Choice for:
Beginners
Straight line approaches
Converting from
1991 Fifth Anniversary Laurel Springs Open Disk(184G): Custom Laurel Springs Open 1991 Fifth Anniversary PDGA Super Tour Hotstamp.
It is looking like some of these are collectors items now?
