Michigan New Course Updates

Yup, it's me. It's at my house and around my property. Already closed for this year, but the trial run went fine, adjustments and improvements will be made, and the process will be finalized before opening next year!

Y'all might know already, but some disc golfers can be not so kind and considerate. Yes the $20 price is steep, as I am appealing to only the true aficionados. Something in the works, the day pass may be in conjunction with a nearby friend's private course...so you'd pay $30 to play all day at either course. The other is Blueberry Bluff in Negaunee (it's on facebook). The fee is technically for a parking pass (thanks legal advice).

Moon Shadow has 20 incredible holes, all on entirely wooded terrain and borderline extreme elevation (one very big reason for the waiver). Two more holes will be added to the Pay-2-Play Layout so that you can skip the three holes near the house (1,10,20), or those holes will have a modified tee or basket. Each hole has a Innova Discatcher Pro 28 or Chainstar Pro, 5x10 or 5x12 astroturf tee, and professional quality custom signs.

For the online registration and waiver logistics, they aren't complete yet, but check out Neatman Creek in NC (and Arrowhead in Louisville, or Branson Hills in Missouri) for examples of what will be implemented. It'll be simple and painless.
I'll probably be up there next summer or fall to check it out!

If it's available, of course.

Moon Shadow Ridge is an extreme hike, great workout, great picturesque holes, LOTS of up and down elevation, great balance of left-straight-right, and uphill-downhill holes, and it's still fun with a range of distances from the arse kicking 560' uphill gauntlet Hole 18, a handful of 150' ace run holes, and a 420' downhill with over 75' elevation drop for jaw dropping ace runs!

If you schedule a round and we are able (and you want to) play with me or my local friends, you'll be able to choose the Main 20-Hole layout (our primary layout with two 10 hole loops starting and ending at the house), a 24-Hole Par-3 layout where the 4 long holes are each divided into 2 shorter holes, or any combination of all 27 distinct holes on the property once the two new holes for P2P layout are finished.

Yep.....having talked to Mountain Man a few weeks ago, it seems VERY likely that Highbridge will live. I am also likely to head up that way next fall....unless Mrs ru4por decides to elect for an East Coast venture.

I'll be up in Marquette next summer. I was going to try to bug @superberry enough over the winter that he'd just give in and let me come over and play it :p Now it's legit listed so I won't have to.

I did just play Arrowhead earlier this year (amazing course) and liked the parking pass concept. Apparently I'm the only one that looked at the pics of Moon Shadow Ridge though. Looks incredible.

nothing i would call "somewhat extreme terrain" unless it gets better around the pin positions

looks wonderfully wooded tho

lots of promise goin on but only one way to find out

Y'all crazy!

175' of elevation change across the 660' south to north line is what % grade??

That's just overall grade, not including sharp drops, steep ravines, or the up-down-up-down of all the intermediate ridges and valleys.

Very cool!!! Where exactly is it? Right up front where you can't miss it? Tell me they're using those old beautiful orange Mach 3s!!!
I was told it was on the North side of the disc golf parking lot. I have not been out there recently. Maybe this weekend, if snow melts. I would love to see those orange baskets put to use.

Kiwanis Outdoor Center in Battle Creek put in signs for all holes and pads for the short layout this year. Looking at doing longs next year but I am a bit skeptical we will get all 18 in - that was a pretty intense job!

I believe the plan was to use the orange baskets for something. At one point was discussion of 9 hole pitch-n-putt for kids & families to try out. Sounds like they opted for 18 hole putter course, cant wait to check it out.

I'm reaching out to ask for a quick favor because I've learned about a pretty unique opportunity. This is advocating for a new disc golf course in the Ann Arbor area, and we're trying to coordinate Michigan disc golfers to complete a couple steps and lend their voices to the process.

If you have 3 minutes... please enter your feedback into the Waterloo Public Input Survey. Waterloo Recreation Area Phase 2 General Management Plan Public Input Survey

You'll quickly see that "disc golf" is not listed as a current option, but they always underestimate us! Just scroll down to the section for "Should any actions be added to the list?" and offer some feedback!

This proposed course is in a huge State Recreation area. The proposed site is an old jail facility and land, not reclaimable for protected land and offers few other recreational opportunities. The idea is to put a gold level course on this property. I saw the layout drawing last night and it is pretty impressive.
