[MVP] MVP Disc Sports (Part VI)

A lot to respond to since I last posted, but before I do I'm curious if there are any other 150ish (up to that 165ish range) class disc users in here and what are you seeing on beat in for various plastics as in mellowing of fade, easier to turn or hold turn and gain some glide? I've had some interesting experiences across the MVP/Axiom line even with some really stout discs I'll share on next reply.

I've always had weird luck with axiom on the beat in though. Some of the rims are just super super super soft and crunch and wear easy, then other ones will be harder than the MVP rims.
I've had the same fission Crave in the bag since they released the fission Crave (2021?? Ish) it's been chewed up, spit out and yea, it's flippy, but reliably so... It's still a crave at the end of the day. These Defys are a different level. It's freaky. Makes me nervous about other, new, fission discs. Which is unfortunate, because Fission is far and away my favorite plastic.
I've seen a couple R2 Defys in Gyropalooza box opening videos. Definitely going to try and snag a couple of those.

1st off I love the trail and its currently the fastest disc I bag and it isn't going anywhere. What would the closest disc to the trail which is a little more stable? Is that the zenith?

Well I have a 164g plasma motion which has beaten pretty quickly into a holding straight to fade disc instead of being much closer to a fireball when it was fresh. 164g neutron servo has effectively become a -2 turn .5 fade disc after several months. 161g N tesla has also become a wonderfully straight flier with little fade, which I use a 166g N telsa for and has held its consistent OS and fade. 158g timelapse got too flippy very quickly. Currently working with a 158 N fireball Im hoping will keep it OS but maybe chill just a little. 162G N resistor has become a trusty straight to fade disc which I actually watched turn a little bit into a headwind for the first time today BUT just picked up a fresh one to start cycling in. The 169 eclipse resistor continues to be OS and shapes great FH scramble flex shots for me. Every lighter crave and rhythm Ive tried to make work turn more and fade less to the point I dont trust them...for me.

Fell in love with the new fission Defys this year. Subtle dome, great hand feel, better glide than the neutrons I bagged previously, and a far better flight than the EK fission Photons I've tried to replace my 2nd run fission photons with. However they're beating in faster than any disc I've thrown before. faster even than some base plastics I've thrown. Is anyone else having a similar experience? I've cycled 4 fissy Defys through my bag since they've dropped earlier this year, and a 5th is about to cycle out. One round they have the perfect, reliable, -1/3 flight and before I know it, it's flipper than an orbital. all these Defys have been 175+... I know that fission beats up faster than most premium plastics, but this is unusual. As I said earlier, I thew old 2nd run fission photons before this, and none of them got this flippy, even after seasons of abuse. I've had 2 fission Teslas in the bag for about 3 seasons now, and only just this year did my straighter one start to develop any kind of turn. Has new fission lost its durability? Is this a defy thing? Can anyone share their experience? I love the disc, but every time I grab my perceived "workhorse", I wonder if this is the throw it's gunna turnover on me.
Yup, same here. I loved the 164-168g fission defys until the too quickly beat in. Same fate for a 158g fission photon, though the mid to higher 160s photons stayed stable enough when I was bagging 11 speeds.

Meh they all beat in. The premium envy have been the longest cycle I've ever experienced, my 8 or 10yr old PPs plasma are all fairly unique but still stable. My most beat yard envy are becoming more stable as my arm is diminishing haha. Basically other than electron I have never beat an envy to unusable. Same with teslas, they just get better and fill a slightly different slot, probably the best disc to beat in and cycle... a pair or three of tesla can do a lot.

Uplinks have a weird beat in, neutrons are magic after a couple months but lose their unique flight about another 2 months later, still a good turnover disc but they won't do the weird straight to anny-to fade shot. The softs seem to season slower yet they start less stable HSS but maintain more fade.

Shame on gammaxgoblin for turfing the rhythm.

Fission rhythm are a good ootb disc, I could see how they could season past but the neutrons have held up well for me, they just stretch longer. One of my best is a flat top higher plh neutron SE 160 ish. It started as a FH disc and stable backhand, it used to handle torque well and always fade. Now it handles torque moderately and makes a great crave like straight flyer FH or BH and flies further than any other rhythm I own. Very similar to the proton that I haven't seasoned much at all.

Shame on gammaxgoblin for turfing the rhythm.
haha...the ONLY reason i'm not bagging it is because my servos beat into that slot and I just love throwing the servo! On another note, I got a lead onto the proton circuit 2023 servos as a last ditch effort to find a servo that flies like a -1, 2 disc and THEY DO. Ive stockpiled 4 of them so far and there needs to be a full run of them. Otherwise beating in a resistor gets close but is more of a 0, 2.5 or -.5, 2.5....but does the nice 6.5 speed laser beam shot that is safe from failing to recover from the turn...unlike any N, F, Ec servo up to 175g i've thrown.

Another beautiful sight at PIAS. The owner had seen a turnaround in disc sales, he pretty much orders what I suggest. A month ago about 25 MVP disc sold in a week including Halloween editions. So we ordered 100 disc this time some high speed that I hadn't seen before in the store Nitro, Energy, Neutron Dimension, Proton and Plasma Mayhem, and Catalyst. It's wind season thru April they should do well. The Proton Mayhem was tempting felt good, and the Neutron was a favorite. But I've realized my 13 and 14 speed days are gone. Several other plastics not seen before some Cosmic Envy, and Wave. Variety of putters, and every flavor of Tesla, Photon, and others. It took me an hour to get them up, and toss hold overs into the basket.

Top rack front Time lapse, second rack Pixel, below what's left of the Halloween SE, and below Eclipse Tempo. The Gyropalooza arrived six boxes, releases next week. I don't expect all to sell, and I'll get first dibs when ever that may be.

MVP is top seller in the store.

Those gyropalooza uplinks were placed their for you. I remember you praising them, wanting to see if you would notice😀. Their were three traded in by a local pro sponsor by MVP up until a year ago, now Lonestar, comes into the store and picks up some Waves, and dimension, i think he's unhappy😂. And I picked up his Amp and Shock in the used bin😁. Only one of the uplinks have sold.

I'm having a good time with my weekly visits helping with orders including other manufacturers, and straightening up shelves, so I grip everything. The kick back is worth it, and they've seen in increase in disc sales. The Plasma Waves, Neutron Soft Uplinks, and Electron Firm Pixels that I wanted, and were on the invoice, didn't arrive yet or may not. If not, maybe the next order likely before February 1st or sooner.

I didn't pick up a disc this time, I'm waiting to break open the remaining gyropalooza to spend my cash when ever that may be. But the Proton Deflector felt really good, but I have two Pyros, perhaps later or maybe next week😃.

@lee76007 well let me know how those firm pixels fly. And more importantly how they season in.

I also love the gyropalooza box throwaway haha. Picked up a few rhythm last season, beefy 172 flat tops. I've been thinking about the gyro box and an extra eclipse detour. I've really been liking that at night, it's a reasonable comet replacement. The hex and uplink are just too far off center/straight. Plus if I buy it on the company card I can make gift bags for the guys. Also I have to courier because the postal system up here's screwed. Might as well load up the cart. Haha

Hmmm what else do I want

Haha done, threw in 2 detours and a pixel. With those 3 and 2 glow in the box I can make gift bags and everyone gets a glow disc.. and I get a backup.
😄

wow.
Was thinking everyone in here be posting their digital gyropalooza boxes.

Wtf is a gyropalooza box?
years ago, a few players got together and brad and chad, the owners, went.
It was like a mini mvp get together.
The bro's were like "lets go back to the warehouse."

So everyone went.
The next year it was a bit more organized as an actual event and they called it Gyropalooza.

At some point, another person forcefully took over the event. But it was pretty much the same thing. Everyone meets up and plays disc golf and goes and hangs out at the warehouse where you can buy discs, chat with team members and brad/chad. Sometimes the artists are there too.

In 2020, we got the coof. So I think the idea was to do a digital box thing and brad and chad just chat away so we can all be a part of the crew sorta thing. I don't think anyone knew disc golf was about to skyrocket. So, they put together a box of discs with some special discs for everyone in the boxes and such and it was cool.
2021. they did the same thing. Disc golf popularity was growing. MVP was working on the warehouse now at this point. So part of the whole gyropalooza experience, was going away. Marlette was already closed in 2019 and we played hunts hideaway. And at the warehouse they had this huge 500+ foot driving range. well. thats where the new warehouse is.

With the coof and disc golf growing, they did the digital thing cause ... well. les be honest. its a lot easier than basically loosing production for 2 or 3 days to prepare and clean up for the event at the warehouse.
Then simon came. And it went fucking nutso with fans.
So, its still "digital."
It's unfortunately lost its spirit overall though.
Because it was about getting together. Which I think they understand that sorta. They doing the golden ticket thing in the boxes. I think its for a warehouse tour. I mean. Cool and all, but it wont be the same fun we all had years ago getting together and just throwing discs and hanging out.

Companies get big and its hard to ever keep that "family" feeling.
Now the gyro boxes feel more like a pump and dump cash grab sometimes, cause its basically factory seconds in the boxes.

Though, the thing with MVP and these boxes is that this is where they sneak out the test run stuff. Like currently there is a peppermint smelling envy in the boxes people are finding form when the bro's were experimenting with smelly plastic.
Plasma Deflector in there as well, and a few other odds and ends, I've not seen anything outright spectacular, but. I'm not paying much attention yet.

The B&M only boxes have Thrills in them.
Garbage disc, but whatever.
And people trying to flip them so hard. hahaha. fail.

So, yeah, TLDR. Used to be a get togehter of fans hanging out with MVP owners/players. Now its a disc mystery box.

So it's like willy Wonka and the disc golf factory? It actually sounds like a good time.

But also, you can win a ticket to a physical Gyropalooza meetup if you buy a box this year, apparently.

I thought i mentioned that?

you can enter to win as well on the website, 1 person will be drawn.

OTB has been putting out some Eclipse Ranges since last night, they go quickly, then some time later they put more out. I just snagged one with blue glow 173g. If they show sold out, theirs a place to submit an email notification. When it arrives I'll be throwing it side by side with a bright pink Bergx that I've had for about a month. I expect to keep both, and find a way to make it work. It may be bright pink leaf season, Eclipse summer season.

For another $12 I was offered a mystery premium disc, why not what ever it may be.

Gyropalooza the PIAS I help out with on orders, the six boxes are gone. If I would of known the other PIAS owned by someone who plays would forget to order, I would of doubled the order.

When the case was opened, one of the boxes was partially opened. So I did a disc count, and indulge with a grip. The Balance feels like my Proton Matrix, Eclipse Vanish felt good, nice grip on an R2 Wave. To my surprise a Plasma Deflector felt really good, better than the Proton in the store. The Thrill felt good, but I know better to try and throw one, let alone buy it.

In the photos that's a Patent Pending Neutron Volt at the other PIAS for $35, another one with ink on the back $25. Thinking about it. Same type of Neutron plastic as my Patent pending Amp, and Shock and I really like throwing them, and the feel of the plastic. I just might go back and use store credit for the no ink one. If it's gone, that's OK.

The other photo Proton Crave love the Stamp, all ready have two, no need for a third. Used at $11.

Got my gyro box... 4 r2s (2 were L2s) bastards. Parachute is blue glow after you leave a light on it for 10 min that POS but it feels soft got that with a time lapse 175g and a 162 r2 l2 insanity. Kept the balance. Gave the rest to the guys random pick a box.. r2 hex, r2 watt, r2 l2 Servo 161, trail, runway, also bought and gave away an eclipse pixel and detour. Basically for four of us each got a glow disc, a black disc and managed to do putter/mid/driver in every box.

Meh glad I was giving em away. I hate black discs.
