[Innova] New Innova Stuff

No, Moondust is Lustery with a very fine Metalflake in combination. Pretty similar flexibility to the latest stock Champion. Some runs may have both normal and fine sized metal flakes. Found this from a reddit thread (InnovaGM is the actual GM of Innova - see this AMA)

Ahhhh that's right. I knew it was some kind of metal flake variant, but this rings a bell for sure.

Factory Store has pushed out some shorts for the Team Champion level players announcing their TS w/ Release date in early February:
Dennis Augustsson - Proto Glow Halo Champ Gorgon
Sofia Donnecke - Proto Glow Champ Eagle-L
Holly Finley - Halo Champ Roadrunner
Joona Heinänen - Star Roc3 (maybe swirled a little?)
Kevin Jones - Luster Champ Max
Väinö Mäkelä - Star Teebird (stiff and swirled)
Rasmus Saukkoriipi - Proto Glow Champ Toro
Emily Weatherman - Moondust Sidewinder
Feb 3rd Universal release - dealers can order these on the Innova order form but they can't be made available till the 3rd. Don't remember Innova ever doing this before so maybe integrating these TS onto the dealer form and having 'drops' is more to get in line with other companies operations for distributing LE discs.

Both the Star molds look like the same swirled effect that Eveliina Salonen's Destroyer run has. Good to see the TeeBird continue as a a TS for Makela and at least one Roc(3) variant getting a TS run as well. Seemed like it took a year or two off when Blomroos chose some drivers as TS for '22-'23.

Cannot fucking wait to get some of these. Gonna be so smooth.
Hopefully a good softer/gummier blend. Really like the Exodus in MF Color Glow C-blend that I grabbed a few years back as a versatile do it all fairway.

I hate that model so fucking much. Discmania was the worst thing to happen to the market.

If they start copying the Discmania mystery box drop shit, I will start transitioning away from innova. That's like THE main draw to bagging Innova, they have what you want when you want.

If they get rid of that and you have to hover over add to cart and have .05 seconds to get one or you wait a month, yeah, fuck that lol

On the softness, as long as they aint stiff as hell, I'll be happy.

The main draw to bagging Innova, for this guy at least, is the F2 deals through the factory store. I've never seen discs so cheap outside of the used bin.

Oh yeah, that too, my bag is like 80% F2s. But I have a few sorta special ones that they don't run all the time. My precious G Star Rancho Roc is one of those. They only ran them for worlds and then never again ><

Innova's TS discs historically haven't had any retailer discount and only were available through the one Factory Store website. Stores would buy at the retail price and add a markup which made them less appealing to pick them up locally (higher price + local taxes > shipping from Factory Store). Maybe also trying to lower the losses due to shipping costs for these Team Champion discs (and maybe Team Star in the future). Cheaper (for Innova) to ship 25 tour discs + 75 stock discs to the local store all at once than have a bunch of people buy 1 tour series and a few F2 disc to hit their minimum free shipping amount and get all the discounts/credits.

Positives:
  • Innova reduces/eliminates shipping losses (greater profit sharing w/ sponsored players & B&M stores?)
  • Retailers/Brick and mortar get TS and sell them at MSRP (increase foot traffic?)
  • Tour players potentially get more discs sold/broaden their market
  • Buyers can get them in their hands on the molds on release day

You think they want to go through the cost of changing things up, to only then give away the extra profits? Do you know how a business functions?

More likely, they instantly sell the handful of destroyers/teebirds/firebirds and are stuck with less desirable molds that they can't sell. There are a few TS molds that are pretty niche.

In the current landscape, its more important to get them in the hands of online 'influencers'(just threw up in my mouth typing that word), or even just a positive mention on Jomez.
Buyers can get them in their hands on the molds on release day
Only until they sell out. It'd be better to have a little display with the discs either chained to a board or some kind of net setup where people can feel/tryout and then order one if they want. Why risk carrying inventory that might not sell or that you can't easily restock without also gaining even more unsellable discs. Isn't that one of the major criticisms of Prodigy from retailers? That they end up with a ton of unsellable shit due to it being bundled with the few in-demand molds.(I might be misremembering on this one, not 100% sure).

I don't have a DG store within 1.5 hours in any direction though, so I might be completely wrong lol

I think there is some benefit to Innova having them on the standard dealer order sheet and have this 'drop' date. Local shops are likely to post that they will have these available on release date and thus the discounts/shared profits the local stores get may be more of a reimbursement for localized 'marketing'.

Can't forget that a lot of shops run local/regional events and order re-ups for stock discs based on whats selling. Keeping them around & happy benefits Innova. I don't think there is anything forcing these TS discs onto Innova retailers (or any specific molds), just that they now have the option to get them with their normal orders.

Nothing of substance here, just love seeing that SD86 created this thread lol

New Innova STAR PIGS coming soon according to the Innova Factory Store (YouTube channel)!

looks pretty limited - Star Pig Blind Bag
first time the Factory store are doing this reserve process with some kind of queue and limit 1. At $50 I'm guessing you'll get more than just the disc like they did with the Polecats and Sexton FB previously

They did say they get an abysmal ratio running them in premiums. $50 a pop isn't really surprising if the success rate is as low as they implied.

They get abysmal ratios running them domey as hell in premium. The fact that they even released those...

Pigs and Rhynos especially should only ever be flat.
