Post a cool disc golf photo

Always enjoy the fall colors at Bayville Virginia Beach. Looking down #3 fairway from short tee to yellow basket, red not too far behind it. The Bayville Shuffle is just a few weeks away constant leaf kicking, in 5 years I've lost just two disc. Their was a dude who also brought a leaf blower.

#18 basket I met Bozo the Clown.

Cue song "Drake - Started From the Bottom."

After multiple hours of work, the log wall to protect the players from stray discs on and near the teepad is almost finished!
Course - Coolbet Järve, in Tallinn, Estonia. Sadly, we can't move the teepad, limited space, hopefully this wall will keep players out of harm's way.

The log and net safety wall to protect against stray discs is now complete
✅

We'll probably add a couple of benches, but finally, I can sleep well at night knowing there's a safety feature protecting this teepad and the players nearby.

Here's the final 'product':

Here's a look from the previous teepad, as you can see the fairway is heavily wooded & treekicks are a thing. In addition, an early release on a right hand backhand shot is extremely dangerous for the folks on the next teepad.

Love the attention to safety! Looks like a beautiful course.

Love the attention to safety! Looks like a beautiful course.

Thank you! It's all about the details, we did our best. FYI! This course was vandalized over the summer and felt almost "abandoned."

It's one of the most popular disc golf courses in Estonia, located just within the city limits of Tallinn, the capital. This means A LOT of players visit the course. Stats show that over 20,000 people keep score annually, with roughly the same number visiting just for leisure and not keeping score.

A couple of months ago, I received an offer to take on the responsibility of maintaining this course. So, my Disc Golf Fanatics club and I decided to accept the challenge. In return, we get to run weekly events and other activities if we like.

The most intense part of this project was probably the first week, when I spent around 50 hours mowing over seven days. In short, it was BRUTAL! The weather was pleasantly warm for autumn meaning I was drenched in sweat. I drank gallons of water each day to stay hydrated and took vitamins and minerals to avoid cramps.

I remember vividly that every time I knelt down to refuel the heavy-duty brush cutter, I had cramps in my back and legs. And the pain in my trapezius muscles from carrying the machine for eight hours a day was something else! By the end of each day, I was completely exhausted and could barely lift my hand above my head without serious pain, let alone play disc golf. But I did manage to squeeze in a round or two just to try out the freshly cut fairways and lines.

Anyway, I cleared out the overgrown foliage, making both the fairways and the areas off the fairways much, much cleaner. Now, if you get a tree kick, you won't face heavy bushwhacking, there's a good 20-30 feet of cleared pine forest just off the fairways before hitting the "rough".

And that was just one task… 😅

Now, a month has passed, and the course looks better than ever. We'll continue improving it!

As I was standing on #16 Bayville Virginia Beach Steady Ed opened 1977. Though I would share a photo of the only original hole remaining on the course. The other 17 have been realigned.

The original tee to basket is about 245 feet. The mound would not of been there in 1977.

Some time ago a short tee was installed off to the left. Original tee was the long tee. The short tee eventually elimated.

Today the original tee is now short tee. The long tee is behind right giving a different look. Long basket is off to the right. I've witnessed one Ace from original tee to original basket location.

Looks great, excellent work!

Be sure to post a pic when a disc gets stuck in the wall, sort of a horizontal "tombstone". You know there's going to be some!!

I got a chance to play Fire Mountain DGC in Cherokee, NC again. This is the prettiest and most difficult course I have ever played. It is long and technical but also a really nice hike through the woods.
