We are currently testing in production (live) OpenStreetMaps.

This is only on the desktop version and does not affect the app.

If you notice issues, please let me know, as we want to ensure this is a smooth transition as we improve the map experience.

OK, first thoughts:

I opened a course page and clicked on the Nearby courses map, the Open Street Maps opened, but centered on Chicago, that is not where the course is.

I expanded the map and it filled in EVERY SINGLE course marker, it did not group them in large areas with a colored circle and count of courses in that circle.

When I try to do a course search, again it centers on Chicago. The site thinks this is my home, which it isn't, so maybe that's why it is centering on Chicago.

When you expand the map out, with EVERY COURSE marked, you can see where the DG deserts are, but its tough to tell where they are, since you can't read anything on the map.

Just checked my Courses Played map and it looks fine. Not seeing the Open Street Maps name in the bottom right, so this must be the old map software.

Yeah, I am getting a lot of lag, as well. Makes the entire functionality pretty clunky.

Once I had a course pop up window up, I could not click the X, to close it. Could be the lag, though.

The map is also lagging badly for me now. It was very smooth before, and now is borderline unusable.

Agreed, very laggy and borderline unusable. Out of curiosity, why the change? I'm all for progress, just not sure what the intent is. The old maps seemed pretty functional to me, more crisp in some ways, and virtually no lag (at least not one that made me consciously think about it).

Not a fan of this new map whatsoever. Looks worse and is WAYYYYY slower to load. I'll dabble with it a bit but I already know it's going to frustrate me. The old one was great.

This test has been rolled back for now - the usability isn't where I would like it. Grouping and the ability to just scroll are much worse in production than in the testing environment.

As far as why, the popularity of the course map costs has grown tremendously at an exponential rate unless you sign up for an enterprise-level contract, which would be like buying a small compact every month.

Thanks for rolling it back greens, back to its usable functionality.

It was worth a try, thanks for trying to improve and/or increase the cost effectiveness of the site.

Once we improve for mass adoption, it might be beneficial to offer the supporting users the option to use the map function they enjoy. Don't hold me back from that statement just yet.

The maps are showing up as that awful version again. It won't load and is completely unusable at the moment.

Only on desktop version for whatever reason.

Sorry, I was testing a new update. My bad. Thanks for letting me know. Fixed.

And now it's back to normal it seems. Thank god.

The Green Bay Packer colored course clusters are a great idea though :p

The only issue I'm seeing is that when you click a point on the map, it used to show you the list below from nearest to furthest.

Its just showing really random stuff for me.

I'm quite sure that people use this feature, its really handy when you're traveling to get a list that populates off your location, not just randomly.

I'm clicked next to seven oaks, and .. its showing me a course I've never heard of 30+min drive from where I'm clicked. a course that's an hour drive from where I clicked, then one that's a private course over an hour away. Then it finally shows me seven oaks...

It looks like the current map is showing you the latest review, with an update a while back, it looks like you might have set the filters up for reviews instead of distance. Will check it out some.

Gotcha. That makes sense, cause it looks like welsbranch ran up here and got that review on that top course.

I think we could all agree that default being "distance" would probably be the right choice then letting users filter from there.

Thank god our reviews are more accurate than that other program too.

@greens

Not sure if it is related to the map upgrades.

If you notice, there has been no new "Trip" put in for a month.

it gives you an error message

Oops! We ran into some problems.
Please enter valid address (from address)

I have tried a few times. (Using a PC/Chrome/Windows

I have several trips I have taken in the last 2 months, but every time I try to save them it gives me this message.

What are you pressing to get the oops message?

Cause I go to Road trips

I don't see an error message. Even if I submit a new one.
