The Inevitable 2025 Pros Switching Sponsors Thread

HoD is owned by an investment firm. If it stops making money, they will drop it like a penny stock. If not, they aren't "maximizing shareholder value" and will get replaced by someone on the board who will cut those losses.
Maybe they'll go public and do a last hoorah pump and dump.

House of Discs is the owner of all those brands though.

I'm sure they have set budgets for everything as a whole.

Based on that video and rumors, it seems that Kyle Klein and Matty O. are going to be dropped mid contract.

Potentially Ricky too.
The one problem with that guy when they do video's is they do 0 research when they spout things off about stuff. It's about being controversial and getting it out there to fire people up to watch sometimes and that bothers me. The stuff he was saying with the Jray crap was so wrong and incorrect that it really irked me about the level of intelligence they put into some of the statements. That and calling him Jrod, known the dude for 6 years now, and never once has anyone called him "jrod."

I digress.

House of discs .. i don't get it.
I was already not a huge trillogy fan to start with. Surprised ricky went back.
Saw them start to ruin kastaplast. and.. I think it was some sorta idea of build a group, make money investment style, blah blah.

And now disc golf as a whole is slowing down and leveling out again, they are going to see some financial gains that are not what they wanted.
Plus being that now we got 5... or 6 brands housed in lat64 plant, they are not gonna be able to keep up with production, and thats 5 or 6 brands they have to direct export to the american market as a whole. logistically it's a loss all around.

It really feels like someone trying to build a tower of toys thinking it will stand, but not really noticing the base that its built off of.
And..
Disc golf sales is built off casual players more than anything. The sales in our store are 95% casual players and visitors from out of town. No regular players go in there and constantly buy discs.
And with less and less getting into the sport, that means sales are gonna slow. The only thing that is gonna jam is super special someone got a name on a new disc sales.

Nails it.

And special runs of plastics, stamps, commeroratives, etc. will only get you so far.

Look around at 10+ year players. They've built their bags, and don't often buy anything except replacements.

The disc manufacturers depend on new blood, and were probably right-sized to meet the annual increase of 5-10%. Then COVID, and everyone got crazy.

Being actively involved in an actual "physical store" gives me a bit more perspective on what the market is doing. I'm seeing the sales. I'm seeing the customer passthrough.

And basically now the best of days this year is the worse of days in 2021. And thats' like 1 day a month now. Back 2021 omg, the store was insane.
I usually just help out here and there in the store, back then I was having to work and help all the time cause they couldn't keep up.

It is nice to be able find back-ups, however :D

Yes, yes yes yes yes.
Yes.
And yes. haha

though these collector fuckwits who bot through the sites to get the discs on drop.. fuck you guys. I want to have cool shit too. I"m not trying to flip mine for money either! i throw that shit.

Lat64, Discraft, and MVP all invested in more injection molding & disc production machinery the last 5 years. Innova may have increased production machinery as well but didn't really announce anything (maybe just updating old equipment/molds).

Now it seems they all have the capacity to run a lot more discs (for themselves and other contract brands) but the demand is not matching. Lots of plastics (stock and LE) sitting on shelves - hard to believe the amount of tour series or tournament fundraiser discs being produced can be sustaining for both touring players and tournament payouts. Retailers that get those discs seem to get stuck with a number of them that won't sell at their prices due to bad colors/less popular molds/next run is already available and got better reviews.

Supply exceeds demand at the current prices. Some brands the supply exceeds demand at any price. Used discs exist but I've seen stores selling used trade-in discs at near new disc prices. Private resellers aren't keen on taking a loss - I've seen local disc swaps get setup but very little swapping goes on and most are just looking to sell for $.

MVP supply is still honestly low for the whole line up.

The tour series stuff though, like the players discs to make fundraiser style money. Stores have a hard time getting those from certain mfg's. its... weird. Like we will pay an extra 2 or 3 dollars to have a player series disc in the store, we pass the cost on just like them. But we've had MFG's say no, you must pay full msrp. like fuck you no.
We don't really have to much trouble selling the ones we can get though. But we order small quantities as well.

A lot of used discs now days are barely thrown, we not dropping them in at retail, but some of them are worth better money. Not gonna take a 5 times thrown disc and throw it in the used bin for 8 bucks ya know, its gonna be like baseline plastic price, 13-15 bucks. But new disc prices are in the 20-25 dollar range for us now to stay operating with the cost increases.

So.
Isaac hinted and double hinted he's going to michigan flying into detroit.

So,
That leaves discraft or back to mvp.

You sir are indeed a sheep. It's just misdirection. What game was he playing, what other pros are commenting on his post? Connecting flight or airport full of destinations ripe for trolling.

Troll level successful for Sheep.

Can these yearly pros switching sponsors threads get back to what is the best BBQ? I think it's between Carolina or Memphis.

There is no generic Carolina. North is vinegar, South is mustard. No doubt you have one or the other in mind, but worth clarifying so that we can judge you properly as a friend or foe (SC mustard base here).

Quite fair. The best barbeque in Atlanta (Heirloom) is at the right end of a non-gas convenience store.

I loved that place when I would be down their own business with a certain soft drink company.

Best part was sitting out on the deck on a mild evening.

Food at a gas station/convenience store is either not good or incredibly good.

I imagine most touring pros without a strict diet or cooking skills know the regional go-to.

Eastern NC and Western NC each have their own style as well. IMO no one can screw up a piece of pork like someone from Eastern NC. (by screw up I mean reduce to less than purely delicious- it is still pretty good)
