Where are you going in 2025?

I haven't set my 2025 travel plans yet, but I've been thinking about heading to Florida to check out some unique outdoor spots. One destination that caught my eye is the Westgate River Ranch Resort. They have this whole range of activities, and what's exciting is their upcoming River Country Water Park opening in Summer 2025. It sounds like an excellent option for families, especially if you want something fun near Orlando. If you're into outdoor adventures or want a relaxing getaway, it's worth looking into! 2025 is going to look a little bit different for me. My partner and I have decided to relocate from Michigan to the Seattle, Washington area!

We'll be leaving here in the springtime, and have yet to decide if we will immediately go to Seattle or if we are going to do a couple of mid-term (i.e. 1 month at a time) rentals in different cities around the US "on our way" out there to take advantage of not having to pay home rent + travel accommodations at the same time. I'm super fortunate to have a fully remote job + full support from my employer to do this, and my partner is currently between jobs so we have a lot of flexibility right now.

From a disc golf perspective, I think this will all add up to a little bit lighter of a year for me with all of the traveling, move-related tasks, and settling into our new home. But, if we take the long way out to Seattle I'll be choosing some better courses to play along the way which will be nice (I was looking at my 2024 data the other day and saw that out of 44 new-to-me courses I played in the second half of last year, I only rated 6 of them at 3.5 or better - and 21 of them were 1.5 or worse. Yikes!) And of course, once we get settled in out there it will be fertile ground for new course collecting/reviewing. I'm also excited to return to Rainshadow DGC which is among the best under-the-radar courses I have ever played. Not to mention a chance to play more in the winter months. 2026 could be a big year from me. 😁

I look forward to your reviews of the PNW. We had hoped to hit Seattle on the way to Oregon last summer, but life intervened.

Mrs. Mono wants to see the Museum of Glass in Tacoma WA, so I expect we will be out that way one of these days.

Sounds like the ultimate road trip. Lotsa good courses on the way from Michigan to Seattle, especially with a generous interpretation of "on the way." 😁

I think it's two different places, but when we were on vacation there we went to Chihuly Garden & Glass and it was beautiful. It's basically under the Space Needle. Definitely planning on checking out this Museum of Glass at some point too.

I don't anticipate a particularly big year of bagging. Professional goals continue to eclipse hobbies (hence I have only played 24 and 29 new courses in the last two years, respectively). Hoping to do some cleanup in the Inland Empire, hit one or two MSP highlights on a breezy weekend trip, and if the schedule permits a bit of the PNW.

Good luck with that, my numbers are going to be down this year also.
Inland Empire ?

Got to spend a week in MSP, there are several quick niners on the same side of town as the airport, plus Bryant Lake and Kaposia are closeby. BRP and Hollows are a ways away, so probably not for a quick weekend trip.

Inland Empire = Riverside and San Bernardino areas

I have some ulterior motives for visiting MSP, hence just one or two highlights. Golly I would love to just bag in that area, but not in the cards with work.

Inland Empire - OK, haven't heard that term before.
If you are from that area, is Oak Grove still in good shape. Looks like the Eaton fire wasn't too far away.

I was in MSP for 6 days, had to work most of those and it was OCT, so pretty early sunsets.
Got in my first IA course, BRP, Bryant Lake and several Niners. Missed out on Kaposia with elmexdela and playrecords, the first winter storm moved in that day and it didn't look like fun.
Definitely a great area to play, even got to play a couple with Chuck!

Fire was quite near and that area was under a mandatory evacuation order at one point, I believe. But it didn't reach the course.

I look forward to reading your reviews. Clearly Dallas centric, but some great courses. I hope to play the The Hideaway soon. If you come back I would add Cross Roads of Life (Duncanville), Heritage in Flower Mound, Turner Park in Grand Prairie, Veteran's Park in Arlington and maybe Trophy Club. That said, you got parks that are the equal or better from what I have heard of The Hideaway and know from experience about Z Boaz and Harry Myers. Lester Lorch is one of my favorites.

I'm planning a family vacation to Orlando this summer and will use https://orlandovacation.com to plan ahead of time so we can save money and enjoy the moment, which will consist primarily of amusement parks and some downtime. I didn't plan to play disc golf this trip, but while researching things to do, I came across some courses in the neighborhood.

Airport Lakes Park is next to the airport and looks quick and fun. Just sayin' ;)

Just a couple of miles from MCO. Two tees and two baskets on every hole, so bite off how ever much you want!

Turkey Lake courses were pretty good
Also known as Bill Frederick Park, two courses there to choose from now.
The BIG iron gates don't open until 8AM! :(

Orlando in the summer? I'd play as EARLY as possible, you're looking at 95-97 with 110 degree heat index. Turkey Lake (Bill Frederick) is a lot of fun, 2 courses. Finish before the thunderstorms fire up in the afternoon, they get a lot of rain there in a short time.
