Pros:
Autumn Hills is a short 11 hole course carved out of a small but densely-wooded corner of park in Union, MO. Aesthetically appealing, this course has elevation changes on most holes, giving the short placements a little added value.
Hitting your line is critical here, as an errant tree kick is the expectation for most holes.
There is a nice course map at hole 1, along with trash cans and a bench.
The tee signs are sufficient, and navigation on all but two holes is pretty natural.
Mulch has been laid on a goodly portion of the fairways, and the trails are plain to see.
Restrooms are between holes 7 and 8.
Cons:
No trash cans or benches throughout the course.
The natural tee pads are really not pads at all and not really marked. When I played, it was muddy and uneven, but still quite playable. I just had to make up a tee (the tee signs helped).
The baskets were in good condition, but only had a single row of chains.
Between 4 and 5 and 7 to 8, you have to walk a bit.
Other Thoughts:
I really had fun playing Autumn Hills. I threw a lot (mostly) of putter shots, but had to execute properly or clip a tree and shoot crazy left or right. The trees will get you if you let them.
I understand that the park employees made the baskets, and I kind of like the multi-color theme they have.
My rating is objective, but my impression was of a fun, beautifully carved course that, if I lived locally, would play regularly.
Those of you looking for "challenge" might find it easy, but a newer player, or someone down for working on their short game, will dig its sculpted feel.
