-Only a couple of blind tee shots (#6/#10 behind some trees, #15 tucked in the tree line)
-A couple of longer transitions (12->13, 14->15)
-No 9 hole loop (back near #1 at the transition from 14 -> 15)

Baker Lake Park hosts a good DGC in the heart of Peru, IL. A 78 acre park with a 6.5 acre man-made lake for flood control, the course wraps around the lake, but stays away from the shelter on east side, the playground and soccer fields on the west side and rarely interacts with the walking path around the lake. Good size concrete tee pads and decent DisCatcher baskets make for a decent round. There are a couple of clumps of trees to work around, one on #6 and one on #10. There is a line of trees along the inlet stream with #15 tucked just inside this line. Otherwise, there are a few small trees here and there, a wide open adventure. Was a bit breezy on the day I played which did come into play. A little bit of elevation in the #5 - #9 holes, but mostly flat. I would be happy to have this in my neighborhood. Quick rounds would be a little tough with this layout, though, as you don't come back near #1 until your are in the transition from #14-#15. Could add a couple of benches and some trashcans (there are a couple of each along the walking path). A solid course, just not much in the pizazz department. I would play again here, if in the area.

- Most open course, but a few elevation changes that are interesting
- Good use of the land
- Well maintained property

-This park is very busy with pedestrians. Not to say this is a factor on the majority of the holes, but there is no sense of privacy
- The park entrance required you to drive through a neighborhood first, and finding the correct parking lot required GPS
- Did not include any over water shots, and did not use the east side of the lake
- A few holes were hard to navigate to (5, 10, 16)

A good solid course that is fun to play. A few things that would make this a 3.5 level course (it could never be a 4 with this land) - Add a board with the map on it - add a map somewhere people can find - Install a bench or garbade on a few holes - plant a few trees near a T-Pad for some shade.

Also make sure to pack everything you need on hole 1 - you wont be back near the parking lot until hole 16.
